Two? or three?

[edit]

"two taxonomically distinct forms of C. subcristatus inhabiting the western part of the islands and the other in the central part" Is "another" intended?--Wetman 20:09, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Freudian slip...I'm of the belief that they're all the same species and differences are merely that of being "local variants", I fixed it.--Mike Searson 20:46, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hah! that's perfectly clear now. Thanks. --Wetman 21:34, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Naming

[edit]

Just wondering. Shouldn't this be Galapagos land iguana per [1] since it's stated in the WP:AAR that we follow that? Shrumster (talk) 08:47, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is only called "Iguana Terrestria (sp?)" in Galapagos. No reference to that in the article.

"Iguana Marina" is the black sea iguana.

Also there are: "Tortuga Terrestria" (Land Turtle, aka Tortiose) and "Tortuge Marina" (Marine Turtle, aka Sea Turtle in English). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.16.234.64 (talk) 03:38, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

William Randolph Taylor

[edit]

The article lists that William Randolph Hearst transferred the iguanas, but it seems likely that Allan G Hancock (with fellow traveller William Randolph Taylor) did this during an expedition in 1933. https://siarchives.si.edu/collections/auth_exp_fbr_eace0053 https://www.si.edu/object/siris_arc_380988 68.229.136.203 (talk) 23:13, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
