Persons of note

A quick Google suggests that Byron Corry, Independent Game designer isn't as notable as he'd like us to believe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.51.225.74 (talk) 19:48, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

High school

[edit]

Gaffney High School has been removed from the list of "Private Elementary & Secondary Schools," again..... GHS is NOT a private school, and that is misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.152.204.56 (talk) 2006-12-10T03:12:40 (UTC)

Images

[edit]

Two images about Peachoid seem to be too much for an article about the whole city. There are eight of such pictures on the specific article, one is enough for illustration purposes. Rjgodoy 02:49, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Farmer's market

[edit]

Could someone post a source for the statement that there are plans for the construction of a farmers market in Gaffney? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.4.131.112 (talk) 17:32, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is now a farmers market in the downtown area, in a parking lot. No construction...

The Farmers Market referred to is the parking lot downtown that is currently being used as a Farmers Market. It's not really a market but a parking lot that is reserved during certain days and hours for people to come and buy/sell their produce. There is a sign in front of the parking area that designates the area as a farmers market and has the times on it as well.

The only other "Farmers Market" is located at the Ball Park/Ball Field close to the Recycling Center. Someone else needs to put the name of the field. It's where GHS plays their baseball games. Heartland87 (talk) 01:16, 25 July 2009 (UTC)Heartland87[reply]

Parking lots can become all and sundry things. Gwen Gale (talk) 01:23, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Festival

[edit]

The following was removed due to it being pure speculation as of 7/20/2009:

Recently it has been brought to the town's attention that rock and roll super group, Phish, will be holding a three day Halloween Festival on a local farm in Gaffney. It is also understood by some in the community that upwards of 80,000 concert goers have attended past Phish Festivals. The expected revenue for said festival is expected upward of $3.2 as projected by Coran Capshaw and Red Light Management. Red Light Management has been working with Cherokee County officials on a proposal for said festival for almost a month after deals with Indo City Commission could not be reached to hold the festival on the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA. Local townspeople and business owners who have learned of these recent events are ecstatic as the local fare has suffered due to economic downfall in the area. The proposed dates for the festival are October 30 - November 1.

The preceding statement concerning the band Phish is only speculative and in no way confirmed. Please disregard.

State map

[edit]

It would be nice if someone would modify the SC map in the infobox to include the red "doton" specifically where Gaffney is located, as is done with nearby Spartanburg here. I would do so but don't have the skills. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 14:53, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate error

The following coordinate fixes are needed for

You haven't said what you think is wrong with the coordinates in the article, but I've made the two sets of coordinates given in the article match. If you think that there is some other error, you'll need to provide a clear explanation of what it is. Deor (talk) 17:16, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sara McMann is born in Takoma Park, Maryland, U.S. - so what it's the connection with Gaffney S. C.? thanks --Kai.pedia (talk) 16:05, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cherokee Speedway

[edit]

@KiddYasha: I have again reverted your addition of Cherokee Speedway, as it is not located in Gaffney, per this map. ZIP code boundaries are established based on what is most efficient for mail delivery with little concern for municipal boundaries, and a city listed on a mailing address is often well outside the city's borders. For example, this lodge has mailing address for Ely, Minnesota, but is located in a wooded area 13.5 miles outside the city. School boards frequently do the same thing, and include communities well outside the school board city. A detailed explanation can be found here. Please do not add Cherokee Speedway back to the article without discussing. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:35, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
