[edit]I have removed the wiki cleanup tag along with the tag requesting more precise references as the entire page is written about a scholar, Gabriele Marranci, and his research.
Therefore, the footnotes cited are lists of his publications and most of the in text references, with the exception of one link to a review of his work, cite either further examples of his work or newspaper articles that have been written about him.
- I am putting the tag back. The article contains many unsubstantiated claims ("the longest study of its kind to date", just one example) and unnecessary peacock terms ("many years of research" is perhaps a "bit" exaggerated for someone who's just 35 and did his PhD 5 years ago....) If it weren't for his being Editor-in-Chief, he would perhaps not yet pass the notability requirements of WP:ACADEMIC. The article is under-referenced at the moment. Another example is that claims that he received funding from several sources are unsourced. At this point, the article's lack of references make most claims unverifiable. --Crusio (talk) 08:16, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have considered the criticism above and revised the article accordingly. Although as a majority of the information presented on the page has its roots directly in Marranci's CV, I thought it would be superfluous and ugly to pepper the article with footnotes all originating in the same source. I've added notes to further sources, however, and I hope they fulfill the requirements.
I am dismayed by the offhand presumption that being 35 precludes 'many years of research' because, indeed, he's squeezed more into a decade of research than most have in a lifetime. One does not have to be 60 to be a respectable academic - just as not all 60 year-old academics are respectable. Indeed, its mostly his rapid career that inspired me to put up this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Desidera Flores (talk • contribs) 08:57, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- I did not offhandly assume that he was not an accomplished researcher. I only said that it couldn't be that many years, as he's only 35 and his PhD was 5 year ago. Assuming he skipped a postdoc, that's only 5 years in which he could have done independent research. Even counting his PhD, 10 years is not "many years"... How much he did in those years is quite another matter, though. Anyway, I suggest that you have a look at other scientist bios in Wikipedia, to clean this article up a bit more and rephrase it a bit in a more neutral, less gushing manner. Also, don't forget to sign your posts on talk pages with "--~~~~" (you can either type that by hand or click the signature icon in the row above the edit window). --Crusio (talk) 09:10, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
