[edit]

G.M. Durrani is a famous yesteryear Bollywood (Hindi Indian Film Industry) male playback singer. He sang for more than 20 years and has sung many famous songs. The awareness of his work is known less to Indian youth of today. I wish to remedy that by trying to put a page for him here. There are some references to him on other pages (like on the Lata mangeshkar and mohammed rafi page) but they are inadequate. hence I am adding the page about the legend. You could go and search his name on earthmusic to get an idea about how many songs he has sung.

The purpose of Wikipedia is not to make someone famous/famous again. It is to document notable subjects. However, the main problem with this article is that it lacks substantial independent coverage from reliable sources. If you can provide those, then there shouldn't be much of a problem. Questions

[edit]

Was there a book published about him that you could add as a reference? I added two references from newspapers. When and where was he born? When and where did he die? Did he move to Pakistan at the time of Partition? -- Eastmain (talk) 19:46, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopedic tone

[edit]

The article contains a lot of interesting details, but fails to maintain an uninvolved encyclopedic tone. Phrases like "To his credit, He tried to make his own identity ...", "The famous actress Jyoti who sang with him was impressed by the handsome pathan ...", "He didn't like running around trees and refused to work further.", among many others, should be rewritten. Also, Wikipedia articles are not supposed to serve as link directories for YouTube or as listing of every miniscule detail (see WP:EL and WP:NOTDIRECTORY). Multiple issues

[edit]

This article has multiple issues as per impartiality of tone,, undue weight, peacocking, and overuse of quotes. I have tried to contribute and invite other editors also to fix these issues.Kishfan (talk) 11:54, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
