References to other Göteborgs clubs

[edit]

Most cities in the U.S. have one major team for a given sport. Göteborgs seems to have many: IFK Göteborg, Göteborgs IF, Göteborgs FF, Göteborg Berserkers, History of IFK Göteborg. I don't know anything about Göteborg and found all these teams confusing. It might be beneficial to the Göteborgs BK article to provide some distinction between each Göteborg team and in doing so, the reader may better understand where Göteborgs BK fits amoung all these teams. -- Jreferee 14:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Göteborg Berserkers doesn't play football (soccer), Göteborgs IF and Göteborgs FF have been defunct for a long time, as have the club this article is about. IFK Göteborg did not even exist when Göteborgs BK was dissolved (and History of IFK Göteborg isn't really a club, but a history article on a club). And there are loads of other football clubs from Gothenburg that play on a high level or have done so in the past, for example Örgryte IS, GAIS, Fässbergs IF, Gårda BK, Gunnilse IS, BK Häcken, Qviding FIF, Västra Frölunda IF, IS Lyckans Soldater and Redbergslids IK, just to mention those that Wikipedia currently has articles on. You will find that most larger European cities have a lot of clubs in several sports, just take a look at Category:Sport in London or Category:Sport in Moscow. Or even take a look at Category:Sports in New York City, where there are loads of football (soccer) clubs listed. I don't believe that each and every of all those articles benefits from having a see also section with links to the other clubs (which is handled fine by the category), or an explanation where the club fits among the others, which by the way is hard to do. I don't even really understand how to do that. – Elisson • T • C • 14:36, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dissolved in (or after) the 1930?

[edit]

In the infobox, it is assumed that the club was dissolved "after 1887?". In its database entry for Evert Lundqvist the Swedish football association lists "Göteborgs BK" among the clubs where the player was active with being registered for the club in 1930. Could this be the same club? --TSchm (talk) 10:24, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! No, the later Göteborgs BK was founded in 1929. And when looking this up I actually found a source that confirmed that the original club was dissolved in 1910 (I don't have the time currently to rewrite the article though). – Elisson • T • C • 12:43, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
