[edit]This page is not a copy, instead has been transfered from the article Furness College, which is now a disambiguous page with the option of choosing Furness College in Barrow-in-Furness or Furness College in Lancaster University.
The page previously named Furness College was based entirely on the College in Lancaster, whilst the college of further education in Barrow was barely mentioned.
College Colours
[edit]Whilst it is true that the college uses purple for letter fonts and for 'branding', the official college college colour isn't purple. The college colours approved by the Syndicate in the 1970s were black, red, white, and gold and these feature on ties and scarfs that have been produced over the years. These colours are, if you like, the formal college colours, whilst purple, is for informal use —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.193.72 (talk) 12:40, 12 September 2010 (UTC) The use of purple/silver has previously been formailsed in a number of fora over the years (College Council, adoption of an official brand document by University Estates (now Facilities)), and formailly adopted by a meeting of Syndicate on the 11th of October, 2010 to avoid ambiguity over the issues. The previous colours had been used as part of a scarf design, although the college tie was a burgandy colour with a generic logo and the letters FC. In the early 90s a tie design was adopted to match the tie colours, although as a result of a dispute between the College and the Students Union two tie designs were in production. Currently, there are no ties or scarves available using any of the three sets of colours, although any new designs are likely to use the current colours which are in prominent use by the College and University as part of its official branding.
