Pronunciation
[edit]Can some West Indian comment on the normal pronunciation of "fungi" as a musical style? In jazz circles, in the well-known calypso tune by Blue Mitchell "Fungii Mama," the word is generally pronounced "Fun-gee"; but I see other sources treating it as spoken like the plural of "fungus," with a hard G. I'd guess that Blue Mitchell was familiar with local usage, so I am inclined to follow the jazz world; but who knows? This is not a topic where published sources are easy to find. Even if we can't get a definitive statement for the article based on a publication (and which might be suspect anyway), it would be helpful if someone with local accent experience could give us a clue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.53.79.37 (talk) 19:01, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
