[edit]

Should this page be moved to Fulton (city), New York? Likewise, I'd suggest that the Fulton, Schoharie County page be renamed Fulton (town), New York. This would better parallel some of the other page names. -HiFiGuy 07:02, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's best left as is since there are two more Fultons in New York State. AAK 19:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest people stop making things up like this Jerry Holden guy

QUOTE:

Fulton has a long history of excellent slow pitch softball teams with great players like the legendary Jerry Holden. G. Ray Bodley High School is very competitive in wrestling, football, and soccer. In the 2005 soccer season the Fulton Varsity soccer team tied,to share the title for the state champions. The area also has more than its fair share of bars and taverns.

Well... drinking, softball, and a few forms of criminal activity are about all there is to do in Fulton, so Jerry's 'legendary' status is just a matter of perspective! He's a pretty big deal in them parts. 71.127.183.106 02:03, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What's in a name?

[edit]

So some just changed the part about the original of the name of Fulton from:

"The city is named after Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat."

To

"Centuries ago, Native Americans called the area that now encompasses downtown Fulton "Quehok." Quehok was a portage used by Native Americans to carry their handmade boats around the great Oswego Falls. Settlers called the area Oswego Falls until 1826, when the name Fulton was chosen. One legend has it that the name came from a coal barge operator who would carry his cargo up the river and call out how much coal was available for sale, usually "FULL TON.""

Obviously these are in conflict, and we need to find a citation so that this can be substantiated - I am removing this change. If we can cite this other origin then we can change it. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 20:00, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Enjoy"?

[edit]

Does anyone actually 'enjoy' "significant lake-effect snow fall in excess of 100 inches per year"??? Maybe 'suffers' is a better term.

wrong article for Wal-mart?

[edit]

Why is Wal-mart mentioned in this article? The text says that there is a Wal-mart in nearby Granby (not in Fulton). So why is it in the Fulton article, not in the Granby article? If nobody has a good reason, I will delete the section from this (Fulton) article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.68.134.1 (talk) 18:10, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

here is some info http://walmartwatch.com/battlemart/archives/oswego_ny_wal_mart_scraps_70th_superstore_project/ I think that it is tied to Fulton with taxes, water and so forth. It is also listed in the walmart directory as fulton and not granby http://www.walmart.com/storeLocator/ca_storefinder_results.do?sfsearch_city=&sfsearch_state=NY&sfsearch_zip=13069&x=39&y=8&=Continue&continue=25 65.213.77.129 (talk) 22:20, 6 January 2010 (UTC) Anthony[reply]
