"have constituted one of the four nations of the Samnite confederacy" this is wrong, the samnite confederation had normally 4 members, for a short time the Frentani were the 5th effective member (apparently a fully effective one, meant with full rights)
Italy in 400 BC. The Samnitic League at its peak, including also the Frentani tribe on the Adriatic sea as a full member and controlling parts of both coasts of the Italian peninsula.
