The number of satellites would remain unchanged, it would require access to a space vessel of some kind to increase this figure. Sky satellite dishes now have four LNB connectors, whereas old dishes had 1. This was increased because Sky+ boxes require two connections as they have two satellite cable inputs - one for recording and one for viewing (unless recording two channels at once). A common setup that works quite well is the connection of the old Sky receiver in another room after the installation of a Sky+ box. It requires the running of another satellite co-ax cable from back of the Sky box to one of the unused LNB connectors on the dish. These cables are available from large B&Q stores to my knowledge, and probably other outlets too. Because Sky and Sky+ boxes use different remotes, it's possible to control the Sky+ box with the Sky+ remote using an i-link (for the extra channels or to watch a recording), but when the main box is in use elsewhere, switch channels on the TV and watch the Freesat channels via the Sky box. For the investment of £10 a month all of the subscription channels available to the Sky+ box would be availble on the Sky box (Sky Multiroom). Either way it's a good way to increase the channel count. Households which have only one Sky box in the house and no other digital equipment will only have access to one channel at a time after the digital changeover. Reuse of the old Sky box is a cheap method (you already own a box) and is of particular use if your Freeview reception is poor. Freesat from Sky offers more channels than Freeview (although there are some channels missing at the moment, eg. E4). Old Sky boxes are also readily available, eBay being a good source. Contradictory information

This service requires use of the proprietary Sky Digibox and the Sky+ system…

Included in the over 200 Free-to-air channels (which do not require either a viewing card or a Sky receiver to watch) that are not available on Freeview…
