- N.B. Correct link to second deletion discussion. (The template link appears to be broken, and I can't fix it.) — ℜob C. alias ᴀʟᴀʀoʙ 00:47, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Notable?
[edit]Even coming from Birmingham myself -- in fact, maybe because I'm from Birmingham and know "Free the Hops" supporters and enthusiasts -- I find it hard to believe that this organization is truly encyclopedia-worthy, any more than, say, the Jefferson County Citizens' Coalition (much more historically significant) or the locally prominent Cahaba River Society. Free the Hops is more in a league with "RAPS," which was active in 1998 against the MAPS intiative, then went out of existence once the initiative was defeated. When this article was proposed for deletion before, it drew discussion from only three editors, one of whom wrote this article. I believe we need to try for a fuller discussion. And IMHO Free the Hops belongs in BhamWiki, not Wikipedia. (See User:Dystopos for more about BhamWiki.) -- Rob C (Alarob) 03:56, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
The second nomination for deletion is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Free The Hops (2nd nomination). -- Rob C (Alarob) 16:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
A good suggestion came out of the AfD process: a comprehensive article about lobbies on alcohol issues at the state level. This article (Free The Hops) would still exist, but would be linked to the broader article, covering "Georgians for World Class Beer," "Pop the Cap," etc. I can also think of a wine makers' lobby that was active a few years ago in Alabama, pushing for favorable tax law. I'm not in a position to start such an article, but mention it here to be sure the idea isn't lost. -- Rob C (Alarob) 02:21, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
