Dissolution in 1947? In all territorial forms Prussia ceased to exist in 1945

I do not understand why this shows the Prussian state existing until 1947. In 1934, all the states in Germany were de facto dissolved into "gaus". Even if in official terms the state existed after 1934, Prussia was was all but dissolved on paper in 1945 with the loss of East Prussia, West Prussia, Silesia, eastern Pommeren and Posen/Wartheland to the Soviet east bloc. While Prussia was split up between the Americans, French, British, Soviets and Poles in 1945, the official dissolution took place 25 Feb. 1947 [1] - 52 Pickup 16:51, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

1918-1933 Flag and Coat of Arms to Replace 1933-1935 Displayed

Is there a specific reason that this entry uses the modified 1933 flag instead of the one used by the Free State of Prussia from 1918-1933? The one currently in use was only in use for two years.

State articles that display successor and predecessor entities user the 1918-1933 flag in their miniatures (Free State of Danzig for example), which does not match usage on this article.

Unconvincing. Historically Prussia was hardly more militaristic than, say, Imperial Britain or France. Maybe it was less so. In relation to bringing the Nazis to power one has to note that the Nazi movement ("die Bewegung") originated in Bavaria - Prussia had to be brought into line through the Prussian coup ("Preussenschlag"). Last not least: the (foremost) Prussian military was the only part of German society that could muster a reasonable coup against Hitler (Stauffenberg, 1944). "Alleged" Göring treason

Someone tried to make the Göring deposition an bit politically correct which gives a funny result and is highly anachronistic. Of course he was deposed because of treason because

• the only one who could decide at that moment in Germany was the Führer himself, there was no space for any procedure
• and of course Göring DID commit treason (in this special context) because he wanted to be the next Führer while HE HIMSELF still felt alife, and dared to give HIM a deadline. It just did not work like this. Hermann was lucky to survive (until 1946!) Kipala (talk) 21:41, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

Flag of Prussia Disputed history

I don't think the flag in this Wikipedia article is historically accurate so I think we should change it to the civil flag of Prussia which I think was used longer and is more historically accurate. so I'm going to remove the coat of arms and flag. note I need help with the image size, Thank you. I agree with the decision, I couldn't find the flag used anywhere in historical photographs. Though I will change "flag" to "civil flag" because people might just look at the flag and actually think the CIVIL flag of Prussia was an official flag of the Free State of Prussia (similar to what happened with Austria-Hungary's "flag"), which it most likely was not. Not sure if this helps but this website I think shows that the eagle is correct, however, the flag wasn't shown, but at the bottom of the flag there was the civil flag, I believe it doesn't have to do anything but I'll send it here in case it'll help

https://freistaat-preussen.world/ is definitely not a reliable source. Our article on Flag of Prussia cite Siebmacher, Grosses Wappenbuch, Band I, 1 Abteilung, 5. Teil, Nuremberg, 1929 [no page number!] as the source for this flag.

By definition, a civil flag is not the official flag of a state - it is for use by people in the state who are not the government. Furius (talk) 23:52, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

To continue this conversation it is very possible that the free state of Prussia retained its flag from the kingdom of Prussia. Because there are no reliable sources saying that the disputed flag we are talking about was actually used, we could change it to the flag used by the kingdom of Prussia and the civil flag of Prussia, until we fined sources to confirm which flag was historically used Zyxrq (talk) 21:19, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
