Ian Ridpath Quoted?

[edit]

This article clearly quotes directly from Ian Ridpath's Star Tales without any form of acknowledgment. Eroica (talk) 12:57, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Knobel source

[edit]

The Knobel source actually doubts that de Houtman ever measured any stars, instead indicating that Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser did all the astronomical measurements. Do we actually have sources for claiming that de Houtman added his own measurements? ... said: Rursus (bork²) 21:58, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

stopping at Eendrachtsland

[edit]

The article says that de Houtman stopped at Eendrachtsland, the part of Western Australia that Dirk Hartog discovered. However, the letters by both Frederick de Houtman and Jacob Dedel to the VOC say only that they sighted Eendrachtsland, and described it. This can be found in the paper by J.E.Heeres The Part Borne by the Dutch in the Discovery of Australia. wHIH IS CORRECT? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.30.212.74 (talk) 08:19, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
