I've mined all my book sources for his political career. Schwede66 19:14, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, my latest GAN is also a soldier-turned-pollie, so how can I resist? Will aim to get to this in the next few days... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 08:24, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Toolbox check -- no dab or EL issues.

Prose/content/structure -- Pls let me know if I misinterpreted anything in my copyedit; other points:

  • "one of eight children of a storekeeper and his wife" -- I've always noted the names of the parents in military bios if available and it hasn't been considered over-detailing (suggestion only).
 Done
  • Re. DSO/MiDs, I generally cite the London Gazette entries for all imperial honours and awards, partly for verification but also because you sometimes find an extra snippet of detail as to how they earned them (suggestion only).
Added the LG ref for DSO but the citation itself had to come from another source as I wasn't able to find it in the LG. Zawed (talk) 08:37, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Would've thought the Interwar Period section could be safely combined with First World War or Political Career (probably the latter) as it's only a very short paragraph.
 Done
  • "After the war, Waite returned to his Balclutha property which he converted to dairy farming" -- Converted from what? Original mention of his farm doesn't state what type it was...
Source specifically says converted - unfortunately, from what is not stated. An educated guess would be a sheep farm, but at the end that is still a guess. Zawed (talk) 08:37, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Waite became involved in politics and joined the Reform Party." -- This is a bit bland as is, perhaps you could say "involved in politics through his farming and joined the Reform Party" (or words to the effect) as is indicated in the NZDB.
 Done
  • "Prime Minister George Forbes had not made appointments to the Legislative Council since 1930, with the exception of James Parr in 1931, but allowed it to dwindle during the years of the Great Depression" -- Reads oddly to me, if only one appointment had been made since 1930 then the dwindling seems obvious. Perhaps change the last bit to "and membership dwindled during the years of the Great Depression" (I'm assuming the dwindling is due to more resignations than appointments in this period).
 Done

Images -- PD owing to age.

References -- Appear reliable and formatting seems fine.

Shouldn't be any trouble passing this, pls just get back to me on outstanding points above. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 08:00, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ian, I have actioned some points. Just need to check into a couple of others. Zawed (talk) 07:50, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Comments added for remaining points. Cheers. Zawed (talk) 08:37, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Tks for all that -- passing now. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 11:09, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
