Fred Astaire Dance Studios® Overview & History[edit]

Fred Astaire Dance Studios®, Inc. is a chain of franchised ballroom dance studios with locations throughout the United States and around the world, and headquartered in Enfield, CT, USA. The company is named after and was co-founded by famous dancer, choreographer, actor and singer, Fred Astaire. Fred Astaire Dance Studios® was co-founded by Astaire along with business partners Charles and Chester Casanave in 1947. The studios became franchised in 1950; each franchise is individually owned & operated. Astaire divested his interest in the chain in 1966, while agreeing to the continued use of his name. Mr. Astaire himself was instrumental in creating the exclusive ballroom dance curriculum and instructional method. Using these proprietary student training and instructor certification programs, the company’s goal has always been to share the joy of lifelong dance as a tool to inspire, renew and empower students, instructors, staff and communities. Today, the Fred Astaire Dance Studios® franchise system has over 180 studios worldwide. SkyeBeryl (talk) 14:48, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Legacy of Mr. Fred Astaire[edit]

Mr. Fred Astaire, actor, singer, and perhaps the greatest multi-talented choreographer and dancer of all time, left a lasting impact on the world. When people think of a dancing legend, his is the first name to come to mind. Nearing retirement (reluctantly) from big-movie musicals, Fred Astaire wanted to establish a chain of dance studios under his name to make sure that his dance techniques would be preserved and passed onto the public. With the opening of the first Fred Astaire Dance Studios® location on Park Avenue in New York City, Fred Astaire brought his immense talent out of the glamor of Hollywood and onto the dance floors of America and the world – and was even an occasional instructor! “Some people seem to think that good dancers are born.” Astaire once observed. “All the good dancers I’ve known have been taught or trained. To me, dancing has always been fun. I enjoy every minute of it. I am glad that I can now put my knowledge to use in bringing personal confidence and a feeling of achievement to so many people.” SkyeBeryl (talk) 14:48, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fred Astaire Dance Studios®’ Dance Students[edit]

Since the company was founded, Fred Astaire Dance Studios has taught hundreds of thousands of people to comfortably and confidently dance – anywhere, on any sized dance floor. There are thousands of reasons why people choose to start dance lessons, and from the very first lesson, their instructors craft a customized program to help each client reach their dance goals in a fun, supportive environment. Fred Astaire Dance Studios instructs social dancers of all ages and ability levels, from kids to seniors. Some students come with their spouse or a friend as a dance partner, others come on their own and dance with an instructor. Some students take dance lessons for a specific event or purpose (such as a wedding, cruise or corporate function), others are looking for a new healthy social activity to enjoy. Some enjoy the excitement of branded dance competitions, others prefer the social interactions at the studio. Regardless of why they start or how they engage, their clients share that one of the single biggest single reasons they stay is the friendly energy and sense of “FADS community” in every studio that is welcoming, 100% non-judgmental, and truly fun!SkyeBeryl (talk) 14:47, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
