Italian form

[edit]

The Italian form (which IIRC he sometimes used) is Francesco Saverio Dolcevillico. Double sharp (talk) 14:39, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"who spelled the name Seissmayr, reflecting the Austrian pronunciation"

[edit]

This statement is nonsensically false and unsourced to boot.--Suessmayr~enwiki (talk) 08:53, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, this is a true historical fact. When Sussmayr had his and Mozart's requiem performed in Kremsmunster in 1796, the writer of the program notes wrote his name as "Siessmayer." Anonymouser0611 (talk) 03:29, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

...which would not be pronounced as "Seissmayr" would be. Double sharp (talk) 10:14, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
My guess is that it reflects the common English misspelling of German names with ie. I don't think he ever spelled his name "Sussmayr" nor "Seissmayr". "Siessmay[e]r" would make sense. The other problem is that "it's a true historical fact" isn't a verifiable citation.--2.204.229.106 (talk) 08:22, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
