Amendment suggestion

[edit]

Having consulted A Franz Kafka encyclopedia, I'd suggest the following amendments: (I don't know whether the English titles are the commonly chosen ones though and if citing the source is permitted to the extent I did it below.)

Short Stories

[edit]
the longer stories
Memories of the Kalda Railway Erinnerungen an die Kaldabahn
shorter stories and parables
Grand-Scale Noise Großer Lärm
Conversation with the Supplicant Gespräch mit dem Beter The Penal Colony: Stories and Short Pieces
Conversation with the Drunk Gespräch mit dem Betrunkenen

Thanks for this - I've added all the information that I could verify immediately, as for the rest I'll look into it and update as I go. AshcroftIleum (talk) 10:42, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

[edit]

The article was expanded by Franz Kafka works, which is not a true merge, to my understanding. At least merge the talk pages also. The history is broken. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:34, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • What is a "true merge" is explained at WP:MERGE. Yes, this was a true merge, see also notices regarding the merge at the top of this talk page. Also the talk page cross-links and converting the other talk page into an archive linked from this page is quite in order. Only remaining thing is to clean up double redirects. I did so, unsucessfully in one instance (reverted by an out-of process revert), but assume a bot will clean that up if nobody else does. --Francis Schonken (talk) 10:46, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted before I noticed that you had "merged", sorry. People who want to read what was on the Main page on 3 July 2013 are up for a surprise. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:52, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So, undo your revert (which converted a correct redirect into a non-working double redirect), so people won't be up for a surprise. The material is included in the bibliography page where the Franz Kafka works page should redirect to without double redirect. --Francis Schonken (talk) 10:56, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The bot will do that. The surprise is where these links go, - not to the article linked from archives such as Wikipedia:DYKSTATS/Archive 2013. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:06, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The only mainspace link needing readjustment was in the author's biography article (cleaned up) – links from other namespaces are traditionally (i.e., better according to consensus) not cleaned up. --Francis Schonken (talk) 11:18, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Reverted, to please you. Kindly mention somewhere that the original name of the incorporated list was Franz Kafka works. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:12, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is mentioned in this talk page's archive, see links on top of this page. --Francis Schonken (talk) 11:18, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) Well hidden. - I see readers arrive at this page and rub their eyes. I better don't say what I think of the compilation, and better try to forget one of my only two successful DYK articles. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:29, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
after ec: I like to please, like it or not, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:29, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Re. "trying to please Francis" – this is not about pleasing me, it is a self-revert after an inopportune revert (see discussion above, the first revert created a double redirect which should be avoided, not while I like it that way, but because that's how the software works). If it weren't for the off-topic edit summary I'd have thanked you for the self-revert. --Francis Schonken (talk) 11:27, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Talking about edit summaries: When the content merged in (developed for Kafka's biography but not wanted there) arrived here for the first time, it was not received well, so I took it out, back in 2012. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:35, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The suggestion in the edit summary reads "... might be best to integrate into main list" – after four years that suggestion is again up (and nobody suggested to take it out to a separate page creating new problems instead of addressing the known ones). --Francis Schonken (talk) 13:44, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Then as now, I would not know how to do that, sorry. Good luck to you, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:20, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Please keep the discussion of this merge in one place ([1]) --Francis Schonken (talk) 23:08, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Kindly let me give background to a friend. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:18, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That background is discussed here, the discussion is still open – a link to this talk page section would have suffised, or pinging the editor to here. Friend or not, I warned you about forumshopping before, e.g. [2], [3] --Francis Schonken (talk) 23:27, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
unwatching this article, it's getting too kafkaesque --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:33, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removed by Bgwhite from Franz Kafka works ([4]):

History:

Which was what was discussed above. --Francis Schonken (talk) 23:34, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Further integration of material after merge

[edit]

Do the tables and/or text need further integration after the merge of the former List of works page into this page? If so: how? Suggestions welcome! --Francis Schonken (talk) 05:15, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
