Good Article nomination has failed
[edit]The Good article nomination for Frank Robinson has failed, for the following reason:
- A fine article except for the trivia section. If a fact is genuinely trivial, omit it, but if it's relevant then it should not be isolated in a trivia section. Worldtraveller 17:44, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Second GA
[edit]Paragraphs are rather short, one entire section only has two sentences. See if you can find more refs too. Rlevse 16:30, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Failed GA no response after 10 days to concerns (7 days is standard) Rlevse 10:44, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Manager of Washington Nationals
[edit]Manny Acta has not officially been named manager yet[1].Fbdave 13:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Deletion of succession boxes
[edit]There was decent (3-1) concensus at halloffame=yes|halloffame-importance=#Recommended / Suggested Length of Succession Boxes not to delete succession boxes, yet you did it anyway - put them back. Brholden 22:00, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- That is not a consensus. That is one person who expressed a different opinion and one person who agreed with his statments. Is his opinion categorically more important than an this person's view? There is an alternative way to present the information, and it is already in place. //Tecmobowl 22:10, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- And as another note, one of those providing their comments has been unable to substantiate their claims on any topic they have engaged me in. I'm sorry, but that is really a 2-1 at best. Remember though, WP:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_a_democracy. //Tecmobowl 22:11, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- I see Sanfranman59, Epeefleche, and aviper2k7 for keeping, you for deleting, thus 3-1. Brholden 22:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- Again, that is not a consensus and wikipedia is not a democracy. You might be well served to seek opinions outside of the group, as they will be more representative of what wikipedians as a whole believe. I'm not going to repeat myself again on this. //Tecmobowl 22:25, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, it is only a concensus of those who responded and a supermajority in total including you. However, WP:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_a_democracy does talk about how a supermajority of expressed opinions is relevant, and that is present here. Brholden 22:36, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

error
[edit]During the last two years of his playing career, he served as the first permanent African-American manager in Major League history, managing the Cleveland Indians to a 186-189 record. ...something is wrong with that last sentence, since i think you can't be a manager during your "playing career."
- Actually, you can. That is the essence of a player-manager.--Epeefleche 21:25, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Technically, Robinson wasn't the first black manager in MLB. If you go to the Ernie Banks page, it states that when the Cubs manager was ejected in a game, Banks took over as manager for the final 2 innings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LightningOffense (talk • contribs) 02:40, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Asterisks
[edit]I removed the asterisks after the names of Bonds and Sosa. Major League Baseball does not use asterisks to differentiate its records. If the intent was to indicate that the home run records of Bonds and Sosa are suspect because of steroid allegations, some other way should be found to do this. I also corrected the remark that Griffey would pass Robinson, since he now has. Gogh 00:45, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
