Franciszka vs Frances

She was born as "Franciszka", not Frances. It is common for Italian publications to use Italian names, and English sources tend to repeat them after them; however I very much doubt it she has officially changed her name from Polish to Italian. Very fair. I also notice the interwiki links are all to "Franciszka". Interesting that the Holy Family Sisters resources say "Frances" though. I would think they would want to be as accurate as possible, but then again she may have gone by Frances in Rome, where she spent a lot of time. Alekjds ^talk 20:16, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. Religious bios need more clean-up; for example many cardinals were known on Wikipedia (until recently) as if Cardinal was their second name (ex. [1], [2]). Saints and blesseds are, I admit, a more difficult choice (ex. Raphael Kalinowski, not Rafał Kalinowski). I prefer Polish original names, but as I noted, they are often reffered to using their Italian (or Latinized?) names. Perhaps Wikipedia:WikiProject Saints could offer more advice w/regards to naming.--_{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk} 21:45, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
