[edit]Vigreux column has a link but goes to nothing? Is this preemptive? Did someone have intentions of an article?
- Yes, it's pre-emptive. There's nothing wrong with a red (not yet written) link. It happened all the time in the early days of Wikipedia. If you go to relatively new Wikis, you can often see a lot of red links. H Padleckas 02:36, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Wrong column drawing
[edit]The drawing for the column is not correct. the downcomers must be submerged in the liquid on the tray they are coming down to. BOKAKOB 15:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC)BOKAKOB
- Yes, the downcomers should have a liqud-filled seal pan at their bottoms or be submerged in the tray liquid. I would just point out that the drawings are not intended to be fully detailed construction drawings. They are intended to explain how a tray functions rather than get into the very detailed drawings need for construction. - mbeychok 01:03, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Second Condenser?
[edit]Can I use a condenser as a fractionator? Say I have two Allinh condensers, can I mount one vertically, then the elbow, then a second condenser? And would I use water-cooling for both? 204.69.139.16 (talk) 21:12, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Nomenclature
[edit]Is a simple lab distillation column really called a fractionating column? The only way to get anything into fractions with it is sequentially, by exchanging the recieving flask after the first compound is fully distilled off the residual. --Maxus96 (talk) 01:09, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
