[edit]I believe that the map is very incorrect. Among other things, it shows FSN-Pittsburgh grossly wrong. It shows Ohio as covering to actual city of Pittsburgh and the entire Pirates area, but FSN-P covering the eastern panhandle of WV (Orioles country) and south central PA (Phillies country). Actually there are great parts of the country that are "overlaped" between various FSN affiliates. In those places, DirecTV, DISH, and the local cable co are free to carry which ever one(s) they wish. FSN-Ohio makes a huge and rediculious claim, to places from Buffalo, NY, to Hattesburg, MS. That does not mean it is a valid one. --SamC 14:11, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
I re-wrote the territories portion of the page, but I didn't supply the map. I was actually surprised to see the map placed there. The FSN Ohio and Pittsburgh network do share some overlapping coverage, as well as Chicago and North along the Illinois-Wisconsin border, and the West/West 2 and Arizona networks in Las Vegas (for example, the Clippers, Lakers, and Suns [and possibly the Jazz] all claim Las Vegas as part of their territory). I am agreement that FSN Ohio makes such claim that they cover the Buffalo, and the primary FSN network to Western New York is indeed FSN New York.--ShawnHill 19:56, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
What is the source of the regional brodcasting map. I live in Rochester, New York and the market that is brodcast to us is FSN New York, not FSN Ohio. I believe the same is true in Buffalo as well. SaxofoneDL 12:11, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
I got the information from Sports Pack page from DirecTV.com. I'm fully aware that the FSN for upstate New York is indeed FSN New York, but I belive they are some areas in that region that receive New York or Ohio, or even both. They are some areas of the country that pick up more than one FSN network (not counting the FSN West duo in southern California). I reorganized that listing because it would a bit more easier to read, plus it offers information about what teams and college sports conferences are available to each individual region. Since I have DirecTV, and watch a few of these channels on occasion, I made the list mostly from memory, while I looked the rest of the info online.--ShawnHill 21:26, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
CSN Channels That Air FSN
[edit]According to http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Comcast_SportsNet, "CSN Chicago, CSN Philadelphia, CSN Mid-Atlantic, CSN New England and CSN Bay Area carry Fox Sports Net programming in lieu of an FSN affiliate." I know that's correct at least for Philly and New England. These should be added to the table. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GregF (talk • contribs) 18:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
FSN Midwest
[edit]Iowa may be split among three markets. FSN Midwest is in Des Moines - Mediacom chose it over Comcast Chicago in order to keep Big 12 games. Don't know where the borders for North and Midwest are, though.
I have a question regarding the inclusion of Big 10 games on Midwest. Here in Indianapolis, they don't broadcast any big ten games - do they in the St. Louis area? Lambertman 15:31, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
I know that ESPN+ (ESPN's regional sports package) carries Big 10 basketball and football to many stations across the Big 10 territory, and syndicates the games to local over-the-air stations and various cable networks, including a few of the FSNs. However, since there are split feeds of FSN Midwest avaiable to certain markets like Kansas City, St. Louis, and Indianapolis, the Big 10 games (at least the ones featuring the University of Illinois) would be at least available for the St. Louis FSN Midwest feed, even though Missouri is primarily Big 12 territory. I know WTTV in Indianapolis is the exclusive carrier of the Big 10 games in their market, particularily including those involving Purdue and Indiana Universities.--ShawnHill 19:56, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Logo problem
[edit]The logo at the official web page is NOT the same as what this article says is the current logo. Georgia guy 01:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
I know this is an old comment, but just a note to anyone else... the logo at the linked website if the Fox Sports logo, not the FSN logo. The FSN logo is correct. WalkingSnake 01:50, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
FSN Chicago
[edit]I'm impressed that this page is on top of the sudden closing of FSN Chicago on June 23rd. There appears to be no information available -- anywhere -- on the reason for closing and whether any warning was given to cable and sat providers. Also, is there any information on what will happen to the pro baseball games (White Sox & Cubs) that were scheduled to appear on FSN Chicago through June and July? --68.22.196.54 23:58, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Presumably, they will go to WGN, Comcast or FOX affiliates. You might want to check their websites at MLB.com, they have the TV schedules posted there. --Mrmiscellanious 05:16, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Just FSN
[edit]I've been referring to this network as simply FSN due to the addition of poker and blackjack, which aren't sports. This is similar to my policies towards OLN, which isn't Outdoor Life anymore due to Arena Football and NHL games, and GSN, which added poker as well. This was probably started by the ECHL, which is no longer called the East Coast Hockey League due to its expansion beyond the Missouri River from a merger with the WCHL.
- That seems like a confict between personal definition (opinion) and "factual definition" (fact). "Sport" has more or less became synonymous to "game", and the term "sport" is broad enough to fit just about anything under its brim. Nevertheless, FSN's official name is now FSN, so it is appropriate to refer to it as such ("Fox Sports Net" is still a usable term). --Mrmiscellanious 03:38, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- To me, a sport has to be (1) athletic and (2) require a venue.
- To many dictionaries, your definition is considered inaccurate. --Mrmiscellanious 22:31, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
I disagree. Although the on-air designation is FSN, the network's name is still Fox Sports Net. This also goes with the regional station articles, like the current dispute over the name of FSN New York / Fox Sports Net New York article. Milchama 18:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
FSN needs to go
[edit]FSN can't show anything good anymore. Tune in at 11:30, and what do you see? The Magic Bullet. Tune in at 1:30, same thing. 70% of what they show on FSN is infomercials, 20% obscure sports, 5% games and documentaries, 1% major sports.
What major sports FSN does show are:
- college football
- local teams
What I'm trying to say is: if FSN can't show anything other than "the Gazelle" or "Lipotor", then they need to go.
FSN is supposed to (or so they claim) show regional sports, so why show a PAC-10 volleyball game between USC and UCLA on FSN South, which is SEC and ACC country?
- I agree with you on the fact they need to show more national sports. I don't think they need to remove the channel, but put sports on. They want to compete with ESPN, but they can't because everyone watches ESPN. They need to keep regional stuff, but also show national stuff.Tigersfan1992 21:01, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Fox Sports programming has always been bad. Not just the shows they put on but organizing which regions get which shows. Usually they will get the region which the game is in but adjacent regions will end up with some non-live program. Or they will show non-live programs in some regions while they have rights to some big event. Take today for example; They have been hyping the pac-10 tournament but instead of UCLA-cal they show me a documentary about Jeff Bagwell. But not before they show the pregame show and then go to the documentary with no warning. Thanks FSN Southwest. Ill stick to ESPN.
We need additions on the FSN North table of this article!
[edit]When I was watching the MLB on ESPN2 at approximately 9:00 PM, there was a newly-created sub-feed of FSN North called FSN Wisconsin; it was shown on ESPN's Ingame Update. However, since I live in New York, and I do not know about it, I cannot add this and its information. I need someone to do something on the FSN North table. Takuma IshizekiTakuma Ishizeki 01:04, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was going to mention that very same point; subfeeds. I've been looking at the MLB Extra Innings free preview and noticing promos for games to be shown on alternate channels are said to be on FSN+. Others just name the state or city for a certain team they're covering (Wisconsin for the Brewers, Houston for the Astros, etc). --Attitude2000 07:04, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Brewers Baseball Coverage on FSN Wisconsin
[edit]I am an avid Brewers Fan and watch every game that I can. One of the things I do while watching is to keep score in a score book that I created. What I would like FSN Wisconsin to start doing is to put the player position on the screen when they show the hitter and his stats for the game. When they put the defensive line up on the screen it is not on the screen long enough to put the fielding positions on my score sheet. I have noticed that some of the other broadcasts that originate with other FSN channels so put this on the screen. FSN Wisconsin, please do the same. Other than that I think you do a great job with MLB. 71.198.39.177 19:23, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Dan Sittlow, San Carlos, CA(Formerly of Baldwin, WI)
That's nice and all, but this isn't really the appropriate place to voice your concerns. WalkingSnake 01:54, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Only Fox Sports Net main article should stay with the name "Fox Sports Net"
[edit]Yeah, I heard that this article had renamed to "FSN (network)", and then, back to "Fox Sports Net". I know, BUT, the FSN's division's article (like FSN New York) SHOULD stay with FSN (division name). Only the main article should say Fox Sports Net. Well... The new names
[edit]Well, I believe tonight we're finally flipping over to the new FSREGION branding tonight cause of the NHL regular season beginning (on home soil that is, but anyway). for instance, FSN Detroit is now displayed in its logo as FSREGION. But for stuff like this, should page titles be displayed like "FS Detroit", "Fox Sports Detroit" or "FSDetroit"? They have clearly dropped the "net" from local branding for sure, but I'd like some consensus here first before I do anything. ViperSnake151 22:00, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, by reading the Blue Jackets TV/radio page (the link listed below)...it was listed as "Fox (or FOX for you anal ones) Sports Ohio". The national feed is still "Fox Sports Net", and this is basically how it was when Fox Sports Net started in 1997. The national portion was/is "Fox Sports Net" and the regional channels were "Fox Sports (region)". I was watching a Pacers preseason telecast last night, the Indiana feed was referred to as "Fox Sports Indiana". ShawnHill 23:14, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm a newbie so I apologize if my reply isn't in proper style (and please show me how to), but the Ohio channel has been rebranded FSOhio, and I've seen it on TV during college football broadcasts. This link has the new logo for Ohio's channel: http://bluejackets.nhl.com/multimedia/RadioTV.htm
I think it's time to update the pages and add the new logos and names and all of that jazz. Optimus Moo (talk) 23:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
ADD: It doesn't look like every single broadcast has the logo on TV yet. A high school football game in the Cincinnati/Kentucky area airing on my FSOhio station right now still has the classic "FSN Ohio" logo on the scoreline at the top of the screen. Optimus Moo (talk) 23:09, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
SECOND ADD: The Columbus Blue Jackets at Dallas Stars game on Fox Sports Ohio on October 10, 2008, says "FS BLUE JACKETS" in the upper right-hand corner with "FS" in Blue and "BLUE JACKETS" in white. I don't know why that is, because as far as I know, the Jackets are only seen on FS Ohio stations (including the FS Cincinnati station), but maybe this is how Fox Sports Net is going to handle teams who are on multiple stations outside its base region. (Like how sometimes the Cleveland Cavaliers can be found on FS Pittsburgh, and the Cincinnati Reds can be found on other FS's in their fan base region.) Optimus Moo (talk) 03:09, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- They're doing for the all the pro teams that each FSN carries...not sure why, but Ohio won't be the only one. Fox Sports Prime Ticket (the sister to West) will actually display their teams as "PTCLIPPERS", "PTDODGERS", and so on. The rest will be "FS(TEAM NAME)". Not sure if this will extend to the college teams in each network's region, but more likely it will be just the network's name. On the Capitals-Thrashers telecast on SouthSouth on Friday 10/10, they just displayed the network's name on the upper right corner, with the new graphics. ShawnHill 07:02, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

ANNOYING SOUNDS
[edit]I watch the Tampa Bay Rays and Florida Marlins on FS Florida.. Thank you for coming through and broadcasting our Florida teams. Now, for the bad news. It is highly annoying to me, maybe no one else, that you have these immature, dumb, duh, stupid sounds when you put banners up describing stats for individuals at bat, etc. It distracts from what is really going on. The announcers do a pretty good job but with those crazy sounds thrown in, it distracts from the professionalism of the broadcast. The banners are clearly visible and blocks the overall view, so why have the sounds at all. If you eliminate these sounds, you will be on your way to a very professional broadcast. BTW, the Florida Marlins broadcasters are far inferior to the Tampa guys. I have to mute them when I watch the Marlins. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.170.173.58 (talk) 00:16, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Vince Scully eroneous info Aug 19 Dodger/Rockie game
[edit]Vince Scully is the best play by play man in baseball but during the Aug 19 broadcast he made a factual error. He stated Eric Young, father of Rockie Eric Young Jr, hit the first home run for the new Denver franchise. Eric Young hit the first franchise home run in Denver. Dante Bichette hit the first Rockie franchise home run in an earlier series against the Mets in New York

Fox Sports Local?
[edit]Well, I've noticed that new logos have been rolled out for every FSN station. Firstly, the FS branding is gone, entirely, now their branding actually uses the official logo. Additionally, their portal for the websites refers to them as "Fox Sports Local" instead. So, should we switch to that as the name of the article, since they seem to have phased out the FSN name entirely? ViperSnake151 Talk 18:55, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- The "FSN" tag is still used on the air, albeit kind of sparingly; yesterday's College Football coverage (Sept. 1, 2012) is reverted back using any and all Fox Sports-related insignia/verbage on FSN, especially since Comcast SportsNet is no longer part of the FSN system, which I think may be permanent now, especially given that Comcast now operates a competing sports entity (NBC Sports Group), and Fox eventually plans on launching a full national stand-alone version of FSN (taking the place of either Fuel or Speed) within the next couple of years.
I think the article should still stay as "Fox Sports Net"/"FSN", since it's still officially the system's name, and we could add an addendum with "Fox Sports Local" as an "also known as", or something to that affect. ShawnHill 19:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- It seems as if they've settled on calling them the "Fox Sports Networks" ViperSnake151 Talk 02:21, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
Root Sports Southwest
[edit]Does Root Sports Southwest affiliate with Fox Sports like its sister networks? The reason I ask is because Fox Sports Southwest overlaps in coverage. Can anyone confirm that the new network has Fox Sports programming?--Rusf10 (talk) 21:25, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Sinclair named as the leading candidate for Fox Sports Regional Channels
[edit]Here is the update on the Fox Sports regional deal as Sinclair is named as a lead candidate for the regional sports outlets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:640:C600:3C20:1DB9:A2AD:B62D:A457 (talk) 00:17, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- All speculation at this point. We'll know for certain when an official announcement is made. - BilCat (talk) 02:35, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- There has still been no official announcement. Per this source,
"According to reports, the bidding is coming to a close, and we should know soon who won ownership of Fox RSN soon."

Bally Sports rebrand
[edit]As we approach the March 31 rebranding of the Fox Sports Networks as Bally Sports, we'll probably see over-eager editors making changes to this article, either updating the name prematurely, or moving the article to Bally Sports via cut-and-paste.
We probably need to decide whether or not we'll rename/move this article to Bally Sports, or make this one about a defunct network, and create a new article for Bally. There is no one method recommend on Wikipedia, and this is usually done on a case by case basis.
I can see reasons for doing each option, but the community ought to make a decision one way or another, preferably before March 31.
Most of the individual RSNs involved will probably be moved to their new titles. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 22:48, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Rename existing article- It's just a rebrand. Sinclair has already operated these networks for over a year and a half. Other than the branding and the collapse of the separate Carolinas and Tennessee networks, not a whole lot is going to change.--Rusf10 (talk) 01:12, 21 March 2021 (UTC)- Create a new article (but rename articles for individual networks)- I've had more time to think about this. It's a tough decision because there's no clear standard for this. The current article is already very long, so this might be a good time to split it. Also, I suppose there will be more changes to the networks in the future such as more emphasis on sports betting. Finally, this would keep with what we've done for Prime Network because someone could argue that Fox Sports Net was just a rebrand of the Prime Network.--Rusf10 (talk) 21:23, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- I concur with your reasoning, and was thinking along the same lines when made the original post. Most rebrands/takeovers are unique, and so I don't believe we need any specific guidelines. I've participated in a number of such articles over the years, and the two main considerations are usually the size of the article itself, and the amount of restructuring the company/organization undergoes. These will vary in each situation. You touched on both here. The Prime Network comparison is a good one also. BilCat (talk) 21:32, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- The Sinclair purchase will be somewhat unique as they continued to operate as Fox Sports Networks under the Fox brand. I'd recommend keeping that content here (noting the two ownerships), and restricting the new article to the post-rebrand, though there will be a little overlap. A lot of changes are coming, and I do believe those are best covered in a new article. Having 2 articles will also make covering the renaming amd realignment of the networks easier. BilCat (talk) 21:37, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Glad we agree! I have a question relating to the article title. Is the official name of the new group Bally Sports Networks or just Bally Sports? I think its just "Bally Sports", but wanted to make sure.--Rusf10 (talk) 22:03, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- I've had the same question, and I honestly. don't know what it's official or legal name will be. However, "Bally Sports" is what is being used on advertising and in publications, so I'd go with that for now as the common name. BilCat (talk) 22:14, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Glad we agree! I have a question relating to the article title. Is the official name of the new group Bally Sports Networks or just Bally Sports? I think its just "Bally Sports", but wanted to make sure.--Rusf10 (talk) 22:03, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- We could begin work on a draft at Draft:Bally Sports. If it's finished before the launch, we could even move it to mainspace before March 31. Bear in mind that there may still be objections to having a new article rather than moving this one. However, I've found that having a draft of an article available to view will give people a better idea how the content will be different. BilCat (talk) 22:40, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'll start by bringing over some basic stuff from the old article.--Rusf10 (talk) 22:49, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. Be sure to add a brief attribution to this article in the edit summary for what you bring over. We'll add a tag to the talk page for that too once it goes live. BilCat (talk) 22:56, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'll start by bringing over some basic stuff from the old article.--Rusf10 (talk) 22:49, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Rusf10: The draft is looking good. Is there anything left to do? BilCat (talk) 04:23, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- @BilCat:I don't really have anything else. The only thing to add would be about programming. Any new shows? I also know FSN currently has rights to ACC across its networks. Do they have rights to anything else? I know its not like 10 years ago when they had several different conferences.--Rusf10 (talk) 05:04, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- I haven't seen anything yet about new programming, but I haven't searched hard either. I also don't know about the ACC contract, but I assume it will carry over. (If not, we'll know soon enough.) BilCat (talk) 05:10, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- Found the answer with a quick search: Yes, the ACC will be on Bally Sports South and Southeast. BilCat (talk) 05:33, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
@Rusf10: Have you thought about when to go live with the Bally Sports draft? The rebrand goes live in 4 days, but I see no reason not to move it to mainspace sooner. This will preclude anyone from moving the FSN page to Bally Sports prematurely, and WP:CRYSTAL isn't applicable. We'd just need to make clear in the lead that this is an upcoming network. BilCat (talk) 06:49, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- @BilCat: Go for it! You can move it now, its ready.--Rusf10 (talk) 07:09, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- Done I'm headed to bed, so if there is any opposition, I won't be able to get to it until Sunday afternoon EDT. BilCat (talk) 07:25, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
@Rusf10: Everything we've done so far looks good, and other editors have stepped in and made some good edits. I found this source, which mentions that Sinclair had 18 months to use the Fox Sports brand. We know Sinclair had a license to use the brand, but I don't recall having seen the time limit before. I'm not sure where exactly to put it, but it should go in both the FSN and Bally Sports articles somewhere. I figured you'd have a better idea of where to put it, as you've spent more time on the text than I have. BilCat (talk) 08:48, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
- @BilCat:I'd leave it out for now unless you can find a second source stating the same. Reason why is its been over 18 months since Sinclair purchased the networks.--Rusf10 (talk) 02:01, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Just over 18 months,so ite probably close enough, but we'll see if another source turns up. BilCat (talk) 02:11, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
