Merge?

[edit]

I notice that Ouiatanon redirects here, but Ouiatenon is a separate article. It's not a bad article, but I wonder if these two should be merged, since the subject matter is so closely related. Thought? Mingusboodle (talk) 22:58, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's a good question. They're certainly closely related, but personally I favor keeping them separate. Fort Ouiatenon refers solely to the European trading post (a rebuilt form of which is still in existence) on the north side of the river, while Ouiatenon was the collection of Indian villages in the plains to the south, the history of which began before European settlement and ended in the 1790s. Though similar in name, I think they're sufficiently separate in nature to merit discrete articles. Huwmanbeing  02:04, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It might not hurt to make a DAB for them though. Charles Edward (Talk) 02:38, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
At the very least, each article should link to the other in the intro. Mingusboodle (talk) 22:47, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Huwmanbeing  02:23, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
