Lead

[edit]
  • "It was founded in 1933 and is the oldest, still active promotion in the world." - the word "still" is redundant in this sentence
  • "a total of nine CMLL championships have either been abandoned or control of the championship was given to another promotion." - title
  • "On occasion, the promotion declares a championship vacant, which means there is no champion at that point in time." - repetition of "champion"
  • "CMLL, as most lucha libre promotions," - Like most lucha libre promotions, CMLL
  • "or real-life issues like a champion suffering an injury being unable to defend the championship" - such as a championship suffering an injury and being unable to defend the title,
  • The extra space after the second paragraph is not needed

Mexican National Middleweight Championship (1933–1993)

[edit]
  • "for wrestlers weighing between 87 kg (192 lb) to 97 kg (214 lb)," - and
  • "Blue Panther winning the championship July 27, 1992," - championship on July 27
  • "One of these wrestlers was the then reigning National Middleweight Champion
  • "CMLL created the CMLL World Middleweight Championship the main focus of the division." - as the main

NWA World Middleweight Championship (1939–2010)

[edit]
  • "EMLL retained control of the championship and continued to use the NWA moniker even after 1986." - the word "even" is unneeded
  • "In 2010 CMLL gave up control of the championship" - relinquished

NWA World Welterweight Championship (1946–2010)

[edit]
  • "for wrestlers weighing between 77 kg (170 lb) to 87 kg (192 lb)," - and
  • "The company would continue promoting the championship until 1996 when it was brought to Japan to be one of eight championships" - repetition of "championship(s)"
  • "used by the Toryumon." - just Toryumon will do

NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship (1958–2010)

[edit]
  • "The first Mexican based champion" - Mexican-based
  • "EMLL/CMLL had 52 separate reigns, split out between 38 wrestlers in total." - divided between a total of 38 wrestlers.

NWA Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship (1990)

[edit]
  • "Pirata Morgan won the championship no later than October 1990, records are unclear if Morgan won a tournament or was awarded the championship." - the comma should be replaced by a semi-colon

CMLL Japan Women's Championship (1999–2001)

[edit]
  • "La Diabólica's reign lasted only a matter of weeks" - how many weeks exactly?
  • "The CMLL Japan Women's Championship was actively defended in Japan even after CMLL stopped touring." - the word "even" is unneeded
  • "Shiratori's last documented championship defense took place on January 7, 2001, where she defeated Policewoman to retain the championship." - repetition of "championship"

CMLL Japan Super Lightweight Championship (1999–2000)

[edit]
  • "on a show in Nagoya Japan." - a comma is missing between "Nagoya" and "Japan"
  • "Virus and Ricky Marvin both won the championship twice each." - the word "each" is redundant here
  • "When the weight division was adjusted to become the CMLL World Lightweight Championship, but still used the original belt." - the promotion retained the original belt.

CMLL Japan Tag Team Championship (1999–2000)

[edit]
  • "Mexican wrestler El Oriental and Japanese wrestler Tsubasa defeated Último Guerrero" - try to reword this sentence to avoid the use of "wrestler"

  • "Over the following five years the LLA Azteca Championship changed hands seven times," - there were seven LLA Azteca champions,

References

[edit]
  • All of the hyphens in the sources should be replaced by en dashes per MOS:DASH
  • Reference 20 is missing the access date
  • Reference 25 is missing the work

Am going to put the review on hold to allow the nominator to address/query the points raised above. MWright96 (talk) 16:26, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • So here is the challenge with the following sentence "It was founded in 1933 and is the oldest, still active promotion in the world." - There were other promotions founded before 1933, so it's not the oldest company, but all companies founded before CMLL are now inactive. So would it be better to say the "oldest promotion in the world today"? How do I phrase it to not imply it was the first ever promotion? MPJ-DK (talk) 17:26, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "La Diabólica's reign lasted only a matter of weeks" - how many weeks exactly? - Not sure, records state she won it in November and lost it on November 25. MPJ-DK (talk) 20:38, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • MWright96 everything else has been addressed. MPJ-DK (talk) 20:47, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
