I have a few objections to the recent edits by 2607:fea8:3d1f:f69e:c14e:c630:2af7:814f

  • Ford claims that The duratec 30 engine is made by them. It is an evolution of the Duratec 25, which is a Mazda K engine. The K engine was introduced in 1991, two years before Ford started using the Duratec 25. Therefore, it is a Mazda design engine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:3D20:88:DCAF:5C12:E2A5:E0A7 (talk) 03:03, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are no citations given for any of the changes.
  • Most, if not all Duratec V6 engines were manufactured by Ford in a Ford factory. Therefore, it's incorrect to say that it is manufactured by Mazda. If the person wants to make the argument that it was designed, at least in part by Mazda, then maybe they should put in "Designer" underneath the Manufacturer, if they can find a suitable citation for that. If it can be proven that the engine was also manufactured by Mazda, in a Mazda factory, it should be "Manufacturer: Ford and Mazda".

Also, there's at least two references that I have found to contradict the assertion that the engine was designed by Mazda. One of the references was removed when these edits were made, which was from Engine Builder Magazine. There's also information about the engine directly from Ford. Both sources state that the initial concept design came from Porsche, NOT Mazda, with an aluminum block casting process licensed from Cosworth. Have a look: http://www.enginebuildermag.com/2005/09/rebuilding-the-ford-3-0l/ and https://performanceparts.ford.com/download/pdfs/EngineHistory.pdf

Here's a direct quote from the Ford reference:

"The small engine compartment of the 1994 Contour (Mondeo in Europe) required a compact design, with a short forged steel crank and rear-mounted cam-driven water pump. An aluminum block casting process was licensed from Cosworth, which rotates the sand mold during metal solidification to improve quality. Subsequent applications included Taurus, Cougar, Escape, Mazda MPV, Mazda 6, Freestyle, 500, and Fusion. Initial concept design work was contracting to Porsche Engineering, resulting in a full main bearing girdle similar to the Porsche 928 V8. "

I will leave this here for a few days to let other people weigh in on it. If no one disagrees with it, I would like to revert the page edits made by 2607:fea8:3d1f:f69e:c14e:c630:2af7:814f. 174.140.181.220 (talk) 03:35, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've made it a point to keep an eye on both this and other pages between the 10th and the 18th. Just about every month since this post there are edits that wind up reverted, usually on this page or others related to recent Ford engines and platforms. It's not the same IP but the edits are similar in nature. 97.70.245.17 (talk) 19:55, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

After a long Hiatus the Mazda Vandal is at it again. Thankfully someone on the Ecoboost talk page provided a Ford PDF that I've added as a citation, hopefully it will stave them off for a while. 97.70.245.17 (talk) 18:22, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
