Pronunciation
[edit]Does anyone know how "Flxible" is pronounced? -Rcsheets 00:50, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
Canada
[edit]The only Flxible Metros that came to Canada were bought second-hand from U.S. transit systems. Even then they were not used there for very long. Vaughan Transit of Canada (now York Region Transit) should not be considered as a major user of the Flxible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.50.140.91 (talk • contribs)
Removal of customer list
[edit]What does this add to the article? I say it adds nothing to the article, and is nothing more than listcruft. If a transit agency is notable in the context of the company, like New York with the frame fiasco, then sure. Otherwise, it doesn't add anything, so it's gone. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:10, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- First of all, I think it's a bit rude of you to remove the list, post your reasoning on the talk page and leave it at that! Reviewing the first page of edits, I don't even see you as a regular contributor to this subject. Courteous behavior would have been to place your comments on the talk page in order to discuss this issue with those who contribute to this page. I respectfully request that you reinstate the list, and then we can discuss the merits, or not, of having a list in the first place. Highspeed 22:29, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Regarding whether I am a regular contributor or not to an article - does it matter? Wikipedian is Wikipedian, after all. I have, however, had this page watchlisted for a long time. And no, I'm not going to reinstate the list. You explain to me how this materially adds to the article. I call it listcruft. I think it can be summarized quickly and adequately as "hey, they had a lot of customers". SchuminWeb (Talk) 00:37, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Q: 'Does it matter'? A: Not for correcting factual errors or syntax. It does matter if you just delete content without discussion. Wikipedian is not a cover for rudeness. Obviously, I could reinstate the list myself. But I needed to determine if your deletion without discussion was an inadvertent oversight, or simply a flaw in the logic with which you navigate Wikipedia. Highspeed 01:20, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- We don't list shopping mall tenants for the same reason - they do not add anything to the article, and don't amount to more than advertising. SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:33, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Reinstatement of customer list
[edit]There is a popular hobby of photgraphing and cataloging buses of all different types. This becomes more rewarding especially as bus models become rarer. I would propose the list, formerly known as 'Transit Customers' be reinstated as 'Systems where Flxible buses are still in operation'. Or pehaps two lists: 'Former Flxible Operators' and 'Current Flxible Operators'. Either would be valuable from a historical perspective of demonstrating how ubiquitous Flxible buses had become in the Later part of the 20th Century.
Perhaps other regular contributors could comment, other than SchuminWeb or myself? Highspeed 01:20, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- May I remind you that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information... SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:34, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm for any proposal for including a list of owners of a specific piece of equipment. It helps make the article more valuable from an education point of view. - SSG Cornelius Seon (Retired) 19:37, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
V-8 NEW LOOK BUS
[edit]GM did indeed build a V-8 model New Look Bus, and the New York City Transit Authority ordered them for service on lines where the V-6 model didn't have enough power to get out of its own way. - SSG Cornelius Seon (Retired) 19:35, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- You are correct, GM did build V8 powered New Looks, however the V8 engine was only available on the 40-foot models, not the 35-footers. Flxible offered their 35-foot New Look with a V8, and was the only American bus manufacturer to do so. Spicoli 01:20, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Brand origin reference
[edit]Can anyone provide a source for the assertion that FLXIBLE was coined so that it "could be registered as a trademark"? "FLEXIBLE" has also been registered by numerous companies over the years and FLXIBLE is phonetically identical. The FLXIBLE brand had been in use on the products (and company name) for over 20 years before they ever filed for federal registration. There may have been a business reason for making it more distinctive, but probably not the one stated in the article. Lupinelawyer (talk) 12:55, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Model List changed
[edit]I deleted the Clipper Eagle as a Flxible model. These coaches were actually Hi Levels. Clipper Eagle was what Continental Trailways called these buses when they entered service in 1960 and this name had nothing to do with Flxible. Michou 13 (talk) 22:01, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
