He is not on this list, why? D&C Washer (talk) 13:57, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See also

[edit]

I believe the inclusion of Bill Laimbeer and Vlade Divac in the "See also" section is fair. They are two of the most notable floppers in NBA history and is easily verifiable. I would request they not be removed until we have a consensus from other editors. Please see WP:OWN. --Section8pidgeon (talk) 08:31, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Diving?

[edit]

Do people in the NBA not know there's already a word for this? 74.212.4.132 (talk) 15:12, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In diving, the front side of the body goes down first, in flopping, the back side goes first so technically they're not the same. --Howard the Duck 17:17, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That is false. 216.37.249.35 (talk) 21:24, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of Floppers

[edit]

where's the source to all the players listed? whose opinion is that based on? many people have their own opinions. saying this, that section shouldnt exsist. to some people, it leaves out many people. to other people, the people listed dont belong in that list. someone should get rid of that whole section. {..::M@®©™ ::..} (talk) 03:07, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest change from Flop (basketball) to Flop (sports)

[edit]

Isn't this more than just basketball? After all, the FIFA World Cup has been having problems with flopping this year big time. Ryoga-2003 (talk) 19:12, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is a separate page for soccer flopping at Diving (association football) Kaltenmeyer (talk) 22:46, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely NOT just a defensive practice

[edit]

IIRC this did originate as a method of drawing charges way back when, but at some point it has also become a very prevalent offensive practice. As such it seems this article needs some MAJOR rewording to address that reality. Unfortunately due to the way most of it is phrased this would be a pretty big edit. I'll see if I can come up with something workable but it doesn't seem like it will be easy. Nemokara (talk) 17:54, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2008 fines in NBA

[edit]

Anybody have information on what happened to the plans in 2008 to start fining for flopping. The announcement in 2012 make it appear nothing ever materialized or they weren't effective before.—Bagumba (talk) 22:02, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rasheed Wallace interview

[edit]
Resolved
 – Irrelevant text removed.

At the time, Wallace was the NBA's career leader in both technicals and ejections, but went on to claim that some of those calls stemmed from his reputation, and also believed that a technical called in the same game on his Celtics teammate Paul Pierce was sketchy at best:

Let the Golden Child [LeBron James] do that, or one of the NBA Without Border kids do that, it's all fine and dandy. This game is watered down, watered down with all that flopping. They're setting rules on us to the point where you're taunting if you dunk on somebody. Paul dunked it and then he didn't say nothing, but it's a tech.

What does any of this have to do with flopping? Although flopping is mentioned once here, Wallace's argument was with the officials calling a technical foul on one of his teammates for taunting after a dunk. In any case, I think the profanity-laced commentary by Wallace needs to either be deleted or re-worked, possibly with one or two direct quotes from him as it pertains to flopping, then with a link to the article in which he discusses that and the other issues. 108.246.205.134 (talk) 13:44, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed.—Bagumba (talk) 08:32, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removing list of players

[edit]

I propose to remove the list of players. It seems like a WP:BLP concern applying a derisive label. Also, a lot of the recent entries are NBA players that are getting fined for a flop, which is different from labeling them a notorious or premier flopper. There has never been any defined subjectiveobjective criteria for adding players to this list either.—Bagumba (talk) 22:20, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. It's an ill-defined term. — X96lee15 (talk) 22:33, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I meant objective above (of course).—Bagumba (talk) 22:47, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
