At the risk of flogging an insignificant decision into submission, IIRC we made an early decision that Commonwealth vs Yank English should essentially be decided based on the choice of the first editor who found it natural (or perhaps the was intent was more like "necessary for avoiding use of a term that would require excessive head scratching by too many of their language compatriates). In any case, it strikes me that the issue matters less on a Dab page where the synonyms are jumbled together among proper names that are jumbled together based on place of naming (rather than on initial editor preference). Of course, a decade and a half or so after the initial need was perceived, i may be treating a gopher-burrow like Pike's Peak... if you will. In any case, i've done my best by forgoing the IMO arguably obvious fix, by trusting most users to escape confusion at least until it's clear that settlement of that ancient donnybrook has, in subsided ... in spite of us Yanks' bloody-mindedness.
