"Drinkers should be aware that the drinkware may remain quite hot for a while after the flames are extinguished, which could result in burns." I thought alcohol burns at a very low temperature that it's safe to touch. Lightblade 19:06, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think what you mean is that alcohol vaporises at relatively low temperatures, which is correct. Burning alcohol, however, does generate temperatures that are high enough to cause burns, especially to sensitive tissue such as the lips. SchnitteUK (talk) 08:43, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

flaming beverage howto on wikibooks

[edit]

As per the {{howto}} tag formerly on this page, I moved the howto portion of the warning section to the following wikibooks section: Category:Flaming_beverages. Should this be referenced somewhere in this article? -- Peachmomoko (talk) 22:32, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Danger

[edit]

I wish this article could be expanded. Are there any dangers to flaming drinks? I'd like to know before taking a match to a glass of Sambuca. How long does it burn? Do you have to blow it out or is it a brief flame? Newjerseyliz (talk) 21:15, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I don't know about Sambuca specifically. I hope that the Safety information I provided about flaming beverages in general was helpful. If you have other suggestions, I'm open to them. Willscrlt ( Talk | com | b:en | meta ) 09:56, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Would be helpful, I think, to add short captions for the images in the Gallery. See: MOS:CAPTION. Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 09:48, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can help in this regard, and anyone else who know about these pics better. OccultZone (talk) 05:57, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Blazer now directs here

[edit]

As part of the rewrite of this article, I incorporated a section on the Blue Blazer cocktail. I looked at the full article, and, except for contradictory or unverified claims, the article essentially duplicated everything here. Since there were two other disambiguation hat notes on the article, I just converted the page into a full disambiguation page, with the main article pointing to the Flaming beverage#Blue Blazer cocktail section here.
