Offer of citation re. Fiskerton Log Boat

[edit]

Hello, just wondering if this article http://www.culture24.org.uk/history+%2526+heritage/archaeology/megaliths+and+prehistoric+archaeology/art12215 about the excavation of the Fiskerton Log Boat might be a useful resource to add as a citation? It has more details about the excavation of the Iron Age archaeological remains. What do people reckon? I thought I'd ask first before making any changes. Thanks very much, RosieClarke (talk) 12:34, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't just add the article as an External link (EL). Extract relevant information, add it to the wiki article, then use the C24 article as the source to validate the added information by using the C24 article as an inline citation. See WP:REFB. What get discouraged is just adding ELs to pages. The idea is to add content, because we're writing an encyclopedia. Ty 09:25, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Tyrenius, thanks for your help - I think I've done this correctly but would you mind double checking that the citation is OK? If there's something I haven't done correctly, please let me know! Cheers, RosieClarke (talk) 15:01, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Some amendments.[1] Author name at start of ref - surname, first name. Title of ref article in double quote marks, because it is a quote from the original text and not wikipedia generated content. Ref goes after punctuation. "Icing on the cake" is not encyclopedic language. I realise that was already there, but feel free to make improvements. Ty 01:50, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
