First Friday vs. First Fridays Devotions

Hello, Anjo-sozinho! I noticed you moved the page to First Fridays Devotion, rather than First Friday Devotion, mentioning that the new name is the "correct" name. Do you by chance have a source that supports that as the correct name? Almost all of the sources I find call it "First Friday Devotions" or "First Friday Devotion." Also, I think most people by convention simply say "First Friday Devotions" since there is no "official" name given by the Church. Various sources, including from the article itself and well-known English-speaking Catholic sources can be found here: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]. I've moved it back to the original location for now and perhaps we can work on forming a consensus, whatever that may end up being. I am fine with it either way it ends up, but I do feel a discussion is needed before the page is moved. - Pax Verbum 04:06, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Pax85: it is very sad when a user corrects an article, improves it and in the end all his work is eliminated just because "a consensus" is needed when the information that was published was the correct one. I almost lose the desire to collaborate on the project! In any case, this devotion is based on nine "first Fridays" and not a single Friday plural devotion. There are numerous sources that prove this: [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13], [14], [15], etc. Also several bibliography quotes this devotion with this correct name which I applied. I can later add this to the article. If you can, I would appreciate it if you can restore the edition that I so opportunely corrected and that is in accordance with other similar devotions (some with an article on Wikipedia and others that I plan to develop articles and publish soon). Hi again, Anjo-sozinho: If you would like to change it back, you are free to do so; I will not revert the edit again, although I do disagree with the change and I think others should be brought in to discuss it so as to achieve consensus. The reason for this is that many people consider the First Friday Devotion to be a bit wider than just the nine First Fridays. Some may engage in them for one and others may engage in them for longer and many authoritative sources call it "First Friday Devotions", as noted in my sources above. Even your own edit to the article in the past has used that form. On the other hand, you are correct in that there are also sources that call it "First Fridays Devotions." I am not denying that and that's why I think a consensus should be achieved before the article is moved. Again, I think this article is just a bit wider than that. This is why consensus is needed for this particular renaming - there are many sources that use both names and so I think the community should decide, if we can get a few more people into the discussion. That said, if you want to move the page again, you are more than welcome to do so; I will not move it back and the redirects will be there to point to the new name, although I will welcome any discussion on the matter and then will be happy to support whatever is decided from there.
