[edit]Seems to me like this gives McLuhan credit for coming up with the 'concept' of figure ground. He borrowed this term from the gestalt psychologists.Julianlawrence (talk) 00:31, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
Furthermore, this sentence from the Wiki article appears incorrect to me: "McLuhan believed that to fully grasp the impact of a new technology in regard to figure (medium) and ground (context),[3] one must understand that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
Isn't it more accurate to describe figure as content and ground as medium? I don't think McLuhan meant that the figure is the medium. Quite the opposite. [1]Julianlawrence (talk) 00:31, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
