[edit]Censorship of Fighting Dems
[edit]- Media which features Fighting Dems is currently being censored by the Defense Information Systems Agency.[1] which has no problem with programs featuring Republicans.
I moved the above from the article. I had previously deleted it because I couldn't imagine anyone would seriously try to defend its inclusion. Apparently, I was wrong, as its deletion was met by a reversion with the following edit summary: "Are you calling Brown a liar?" Well, not really (but see point 2). But there are numerous problems with the deleted material:
- Relevance: What does this tell us about the Fighting Dems (who are the subject of the article)?
- WP:RS: Since when is talk radio a reliable source? And before you answer this, think. If we let Brown in as a reliable source, we have to let Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity be used as sources as well. Perish the thought.
- Even if the preceding objections are met, this is still Brown's opinion, yet is presented as fact. This tiger would need to be caged.
- Finally, even if the preceding could be met, the passage doesn't tell us much about what happened. In what sense did the agency "censor" the media featuring the Fighting Dems?
The major problems are points one and two, especially point one. But thank you for "Fighting" ;-) JChap T/E 01:43, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Philosophy
[edit]On October 1, 2006 Army Captain and congressional canidate Tammy Duckworth made the weekly Democratic radio address "blating" George W. Bush saying "Instead of a plan or a strategy, we get shallow slogans like 'mission accomplished' and 'stay the course,'" but "Those slogans are calculated to win an election. But they won't help us accomplish our mission in Iraq"[1] She explained that the United States needs "a Congress that will ask the tough questions and work together for solutions rather than attacking the patriotism of those who disagree." Further she said, "It is time to encourage Iraqi leaders to take control of their own county and make the tough choices that will stop the civil war and stabilize the country."
"blating"?
"berating"?
"blasting"?
"blast"?
This page does seem to be splattered full of typos, including the above paragraph.

This link in the Tammy Duckworth quote's citation is broken, and I can't find the source. I wanted to make that paragraph tolerably readable, but I don't want to mangle her words. Avram 23:01, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
