Authority

[edit]

@Dwergenpaartje: Do you have a possibility to dig out your source for the genus authority being Frederick McCoy, 1844? (I checked the references 1, 3, and 5, and they all gave the genus name as Fenestella, Lonsdale, 1839. References 2 and 4 were not that easy to check. I however also checked McCoy's and Griffith's publication from 1844, and found that it (on page 200) presents it as Fenestella, Miller.) Regards, JoergenB (talk) 18:51, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@JoergenB: Thanks for pointing this out. I do not remember were I derived the authority. I note that many online sources attibute the genus to William Lonsdale, in The Silurian System by Roderick Murchison. I checked this publication for the words Fenestella, Fenestrella, Bryozoa, Moss and Lonsdale. Only Moss and Lonsdale were found. Moss only referring to the vegetation. Mr. Lonsdale is mentioned quite some times, but never in association with moss animals, bryozoa, Fenestella or Fenestrella. I'm at a loss. Sorry. @Dwergenpaartje: All right. I added Lonsdale as "the" authority in the taxobox and in the taxonomy section, without removing anything. (The formulation `the early third millenium' is due to my general attempts to write in a non-recentist manner; but a more conventional formulation also would be OK, IMHO.)
