Anyone familiar with this series care to add it to this list?

[edit]

Types of mythological or fantastic beings in contemporary fiction is a page of, well, fantasy series (movie, TV, written, whatever) and the assorted mythological and/or fantastic critters they contain. This series would probably qualify. Anyone care to add it? Tamtrible (talk) 09:45, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merger of individual articles of books in this series

I think the no-reference articles about the books in this series should be merged into this article. --Tyw7 (🗣️ Talk) — If (reply) then (ping me) 19:53, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While some of those titles are likely notable, I would support this merger. An interested editor could always reverse adding in citations to RS to help establish notability at a later date. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 20:27, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I concur. While the books are likely notable, improving them as a branch of this article and then spinning them off into their own article when ready sounds like a better procedure than attempting to individually improve all the articles in a large book series. El komodos drago (talk to me) 12:33, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Actually please could editors ensure that the content is cited and plot summaries are condensed before placing them here. They are best worked on individually. El komodos drago (talk to me) 12:30, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Quick query, does being UK Children's Laureate mean that Chris Riddell qualifies under clause 5. If this isn't a case of clause 5 I'm not sure what is? El komodos drago (talk to me) 07:59, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Don't think that clause 5 applies, as historical significance is required. UK Children's Laureate (a national prize) establishes his notability, certainly, but doesn't put him in the league of Charles Dickens, for whom historical significance is clear by the passage of time. I therefore support the merges. Klbrain (talk) 18:28, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But are there any works of Dickins which are not covered by clause 1 (i.e. are covered by 2 or more IRSs in a non-trial manner)? Clause 5 obviously has to cover some works clause 1 doesn't or it wouldn't exist. El komodos drago (talk to me) 12:02, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Small amendment here: where there are trilogy pages, then a merge to the series seems more appropriate; so, merging to The Edge Chronicles Twig Saga and The Edge Chronicles: Rook Barkwater Saga, as appropriate. Klbrain (talk) 20:17, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reassessment

[edit]

I conducted a reassessment on behalf of the Children's literature WikiProject as requested by El komodos drago. Specifically asked about were the multiple improvement tags and whether being Children's Laureate was an example of something which would qualify notability under NBOOK criteria 5.Through this reassessment I have raised the article from Start to C class and removed many of the improvement tags. First all of these should likely not have been placed as there was some degree of duplication between them. Beyond that the sources have been improved but are still somewhat lacking and over reliant on primary/SELFPUB sources. As for the Children's Laureate question my examination suggests it's not such an award. For it to be such an award I would expect substantial coverage throughout the United Kingdom, children's literature news sites, and at least passing coverage in the popular press in other countries. While I did find regular coverage in the UK and some coverage in children's literature new sites (particularly Publisher's Weekly) both these fell short, as did coverage in popular press in other countries (e.g. New York Times which mentioned it while covering Blake but not on its own merits). However in reality no one editor can make this kind of determination. An RfC can give weight to community opinion but it'll be the opinion of editors are AfD discussions who really decide the matter. I hope this helps. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 13:25, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
