- To illustrate my edits, the JP wrote that Koehler awarded the order and that first class is the highest federal order in germany. Thats so true as misleading. Koehler is doing a signature on the award document, normally the order is awarded in person by a representative of the local state or municipality, which mostly are the ones who ask for the award as well. A Landes state secretary as in the case of Langer, is from a protocol standpoint a sort of lower level, thats a political burocrat, not a high political representative. As well the cross of merit is the highest order in germany, however it has 9 ranks and the "first class" is not the highest rank. So no overstatement intended, but the dedication to langer is all in all a sort of political sign of a significant diplomatic conflict underlined as well by the statement of the israeli speaker. One could compare the award to Klaus Croissant receiving the french Légion d'honneur in 1977 --Polentario (talk) 10:02, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
