Pronunciation

[edit]

I'm hopeless with IPA etc, but can someone put in the correct text to indicate the "Torroba" part of his surname is pronounced not tə-RO-ba but TO-roba, with the accent on the first syllable. Cheers. -- JackofOz (talk) 02:11, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What makes you sure that it is pronounced that way? Following the normal rules, 'Torroba' ending with a vowel, should be stressed [torˈroβa]. AmosEis (talk) 20:33, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The first o is accented, as the new page title shows. -- Jack of Oz [pleasant conversation] 12:11, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that isn't correct. Please refer to the new section below. 2A02:1205:34DF:DD30:21E:C2FF:FEF4:5868 (talk) 14:09, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tórroba: nonsense, It's of course Torroba!

[edit]

According to standard reliable sources, including the The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, it's Torroba not Tórroba. Please revert the change back to Torroba, as it has always been. Why not just have a quick look into Spanish Google News ( https://www.google.com/webhp?tbm=nws#gl=es&hl=es&q=Federico+Moreno+Torroba&tbas=0&tbm=nws ) to find that *no single* source refers to a "Tórroba" but to Torroba! Btw, the person who did think that it is "Tórroba" did not cite a source at all, which is not acceptable anyway. 2A02:1205:34DF:DD30:21E:C2FF:FEF4:5868 (talk) 14:07, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enuf. I've moved it back. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 21:00, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
