Naming convention for ministries
[edit]@Mahveotm, Kunkuru, Nwankwochi, Cheezyjumbo, Ogunzjoel, and Aymatth2: There are currently six varieties of title for articles about these ministries:
- Nigerian Ministry of x
- Nigerian Ministry of Finance
- Nigerian Ministry of Information
- Nigerian Ministry of Labour
- Nigerian Ministry of Lands & Urban Development
- Nigerian Ministry of Power
- Nigerian Ministry of Science & Technology
- Nigerian Ministry of Transportation
- Nigerian Ministry of Tourism
- Nigerian Ministry of Water Resources - redirects to Minister of Water Resources (Nigeria)
- Nigerian Ministry of Women Affairs
- Nigerian Ministry of Works
- Nigerian Ministry of Youth and Sports
- Nigerian Federal Ministry of x
- Nigerian Federal Ministry of Agriculture
- Nigerian Federal Ministry of Aviation
- Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education
- Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health
- Nigerian Federal Ministry of Justice
- Nigerian Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment
- Federal Ministry of x (Nigeria)
- Federal Ministry of Environment (Nigeria)
- Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources (Nigeria)
- Ministry of x (Nigeria)
- Ministry of Interior (Nigeria)
- Minister of x (Nigeria)
- Minister of Foreign Affairs (Nigeria)
- Nigerian x Ministry
- Nigerian Mines and Steel Development Ministry
Should there be a standard format and should the other articles be renamed? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:42, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- Curb Safe Charmer I believe we should have a standard format for it as suggested. How about we have (Name of Ministry), (Country) example Federal Ministry of Finance, Nigeria or Nigerian Ministry of Finance. Either of them seems good to me. Edidiong (talk) 08:34, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- I prefer disambiguating with Nigeria in parentheses or comma since it isn't official, then we make the others a redirect. HandsomeBoy (talk) 06:39, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- I second that. Specifically, the version with parentheses seems most appropriate. That way, it's not in doubt that the word "Nigeria" is not originally part of the name, but merely introduced for the purpose of disambiguation. – BroVic (talk) 08:32, 30 September 2018 (UTC)
Questionable value of section's narrative
[edit]The section Ministries has a leading narrative that seems totally pointless and is not really adding value to the section (or perhaps even to the article as a whole). I would suggest that it be expunged or relocated to a new section or a different article that probably discusses the details (or vagaries) of civil service administration in Nigeria. — BroVic (talk) 15:07, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
