Co-founder?

[edit]

I changed "co-founder of" Standard Oil with "executive with" Standard Oil. Yes, he worked for Standard Oil in an executive capacity, but I'm not so sure he was one of the founders. I suspect he was not. I haven't done any serious research on the matter... I will leave that for whoever might wish to change it back to "founder" or "co-founder". If you do, please cite a source. Found this... one of the plaques mounted on the walls of Squire's Castle gives a brief biography of Mr. Squire...

Feargus B. Squire 1850-1932

Born near Exeter, England, Squire came to America at the age of ten. An American success story, Squire began as an office boy for an oil company, later he built and operated his own refinery. By 1885, he had joined Standard Oil of Ohio as a co-manager with Frank Rockefeller, the brother of John D. Rockefeller. Among Squire's accomplishments was the construction of the first tank wagon for overland shipment of oil. Despite skepticism over the feasibility and reliability of the tank car, Squires confidence in his venture was proven by successful oil transport.

Standard Oil was founded in 1870 (if the Wikipedia article on the matter is to be believed). Squire joined 15 years later. By then "the Standard" was way beyond the "founding" stage. And not sure if it's allowed, but the above bit would be a good addition to the article. JBarta (talk) 22:09, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
