His age.

[edit]

I suggest keeping his age blank until his birthdate of 1911 is verified or if he is revealed to be younger. 78.19.197.34 (talk) 18:49, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just came to this page as he came up in conversation at Thanksgiving this year. I personally slowly ran the NYC marathon back in 2003, and I remember him running with ,e, and at the time people were saying he was 90+. Again that was 20 years ago. But at this point he would be one of the oldest people in the world. Jjazz76 (talk) 23:30, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is no good evidence to what his real age is. People often exaggerate or lie about longevity. Josiah Oldfield died aged 89 but many people said he was around 105 years old. Paul Bragg died aged 81 but many said he died in his 90s. If a man looks old then age can be deceptive. He may have been around 80 in 2003 but that is just a guess. Nobody will know until his birthdate is verified. Psychologist Guy (talk) 00:35, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's unfortunate there isn't much evidence, because he looked pretty darn old 20 years ago when I saw him in person and ran the marathon. No way he was below 80 then. So he's probably older than 100. Unfortunate that all the stories about him don't do a better job of looking into his longevity claims. He's gotten quite a bit of coverage over the years. • Agree that we should keep it out of the infobox. Infoboxes can't provide context, so they're really only for straightforward, uncontroversial information or things that are overwhelmingly sourced as central to the topic; contested and controversial stuff just be in the article body instead, where we can provide full context --Aquillion (talk) 15:33, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
