I'm not sure that "Fatimid revolution" (as recommend by Skitash in this move) is the best title here. Revolution doesn't have an exact definition, but it does have certain connotations that don't particularly fit here, as the Aghlabids were overthrown by a military campaign, not an internal uprising. Another concise but more neutral descriptive title (in the WP:NDESC sense) might be better. The source for this name is the chapter title in one particular reference ([1]), which is valid, but it appears to be used in that context as a thematic title to cover the period from 873 to 969, much wider than the scope here. In the context of Wikipedia, I think it will be misinterpreted as the WP:COMMONNAME, which I don't think is the case for this particular event.
The former title, "Campaign of the Kutamas against the Aghlabids", isn't great either and emphasizes an ethnic identity rather than the relevant political identity of the armed movement. My initial recommendation would be "Fatimid conquest of Ifriqiya", which is similar to the relevant chapter title ("Conquest of Ifriqiya") in Halm 1996, one of the most detailed sources on this topic. Other options might include "Fall of the Aghlabids" or "Overthrow of the Aghlabids". Any thoughts, other suggestions? R Prazeres (talk) 00:37, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your input R Prazeres. I initially chose the title "Fatimid revolution" because it seemed to be the most commonly searched term in Google Search and Scholar, and also because it looked like a better alternative to the previous long and badly phrased title. However, I support changing the title to "Fatimid conquest of Ifriqiya" to accurately portray the events that happened, such as your observation that the Aghlabids were overthrown through a military campaign rather than an internal uprising. Thank you. Indeed the current title isn't invalid, that wording does indeed recur, but it doesn't appear to be conventionalized (I note you appropriately chose lowercase for "revolution"), and it's hard to check what exact terms are being used by other authors. In any case, as long as "Fatimid conquest of Ifriqiya" works for you, I'll wait a day or two to see if there are further comments or objections, then move it. Another note: this topic is already covered in more detail at Fatimid Caliphate (see history section). Accordingly, I'm not really convinced that this article was ever needed, but in any case it could be expanded by adapting relevant material from there.
