Catchphrase
[edit]The dialogue quoted, whilst it might give a flavour of the series, and suggest the tone it takes, is not a phrase uniquely associated with the character, and used repeatedly, is it? To be a catchphrase it has to be something that the character actually says repeatedly (for example, Columbo returning as he leaves, to say “One more thing…”), or, in extremis, something that the public associates with a character even if not used in the exact form (“Beam me up, Scotty!” or “Play it again, Sam!” spring to mind). I don’t think that "Father Phil, could you take 10 o'clock Mass? I've got a murder to solve" falls into that categpry, can it? Jock123 (talk) 10:18, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
I, too, can't recall this phrase being used in any other episode. It is definitely not a phrase that the character uses regularly. Stephen Poppitt 04:30, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
Father Dowling Investigates
[edit]I have seen this show on UK television repeatedly, since it first aired here on ITV in the early 1990s. I don't recall ever seeing it billed under the title Father Dowling Investigates. Because there was a famous English police series which ran here some years ago under the title Inspector Hornleigh Investigates, I would certainly have noticed if the Father Dowling series had borrowed that particular title. I note that a DVD release has used the Investigates title, but there is some reason to believe that the DVD release represents the first ever use of that title.
