Pointer

[edit]

Discussion of where this redirect should point should be carried out here, not on Talk:Fashion house (disambiguation). Currently, this is a pointer to Haute couture, and the bold edit redirecting it to Fashion house (disambiguation) on 4 February has been reverted per WP:BRD. Please leave as the previous consensus (since 2007) until discussion is complete. -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:53, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What if there were a link to the category list for "fashion designers" on the Fashion House (disambiguation) page? This might make more sense than listing every designer/brand name that could be called a fashion house, which would be ridiculously long. I wouldn't have a problem with that, as it would be more accurate than redirecting to haute couture, and it might be far simpler than an article solely for explaining what fashion houses are. In a nutshell, the answer is simply that a fashion house is another name for a fashion design business, regardless of where it stands in the prestige/status stakes. Technically, there's nothing to say you can't call both Dior and Primark (even though one makes £20,000 dresses and the other sells cheap-quality £20 frocks) fashion houses. This seems reasonable to me - thoughts? Mabalu (talk) 16:06, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just had an even simpler idea - what if fashion house was to redirect to the page for Fashion designers rather than to haute couture? Mabalu (talk) 17:43, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
