Name of Taiwan
[edit]- Republic of China, commonly known as Taiwan, due to political pressure from People's Republic of China, uses the name Chinese Taipei for international sport events. Although Taiwan may not be recognized by international organizations such as FISU, geographically, Taiwan is a location. Chinese Taipei is an invalid description of a location since it is only politically used by Taiwan.
- Taiwan is not a country recognized by the world. But it is a location. Please do not try to change the name again because the title clearly states "Location" not "Country". Therefore, Taiwan's name should not be changed to Chinese Taipei because Chinese Taipei is not a place. Just look at your world map. What does it say? Any attempt of changing the name would be reported as vandalism.
→ Chinese Taipei is correct as it is used for sporting events, such as Universiade A link to the page describing "Chinese Taipei" would clarify this. To prevent confusion 'Taiwan' is indicated as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.83.236.114 (talk) 01:23, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Name origin nonsense
[edit]The statement 'The name is a combination of the words "University" and "olympics"' is clearly nonsense: take what you can of "University" from "Universiade" and you get "-ade" and not one of those three letters is found in "olympics". That stament needs deleting and rewriting completely! Iph (talk) 22:09, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Participants
[edit]There´s no reference at all about the countries which participate in te Universiade. It is necessary to include that information in the article.--Tercerista (talk) 15:15, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Austria or Germany?
[edit]There were a game in 1939 in Vienna and the page talks that it was in Austria. But in 1939 there wasn't Austria, because Anschluss (1938). So in my opinion the correct country name is Germany. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.97.77.33 (talk) 07:19, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
