[edit]Hi! Just starting out... and attempting to document the 12 year history of this free local publication. Any help would be warmly received.Cargill208 (talk) 05:52, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi there. Please don't put the {{helpme}} template on your user page, put it on here. I'll post some general help below; if you need more direct assistance, it tells you how. Cheers, -- Chzz ► 05:55, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi, the weekly entertainment guide named f*INK has been the only noticeboard for a broad artistic community in Dunedin NZ for many years, and has pursued a single line of providing free information to communities since 1996. I am very much hoping this page will not be deleted, as this publication's entire catalogue of editions have been collected by two New Zealand libraries and the subject of an exhibition.Cargill208 (talk) 08:40, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Cargill. Thank you for the article! Wikipedia has rather strict inclusion guidelines, which is why every article needs to show its notability. Could you add references to reliable sources that show this guide's notability? Or that talk about the exhibitions?
I also note from your user page that you are the owner of F*INK, which leaves you with a conflict of interest, so could you also have a look at WP:FAQ/Business please?
Thank you, Amalthea 14:46, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi I think I need a mentor! I've had a look at the conflict-of-interest pages, I am attempting to be as impartial as possible. Noo-one else has tried create an article on 'f*INK Weekly', but I do believe this needs to be documented. This publication was free and non-profit, but ran as a business only because of managing advertising revenue. At its inception, it was decided to not rely on arts funding as that would have taken funding from the hands of those artists and networks f*INK sought to support. Thanks for your help! I have joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Magazines. - Cargill208 (talk) 21:58, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Looks fine Cargill - It's a little thin on notability by Wikipedia standards, but I think it's got enough references on here that it'll survive if anyone tries to take it to AFD again. Grutness...wha? 13:46, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Even though I'm late to the debate, I can vouch it's not spam/advertising, and I think f*ink is indeed notable. BTW part of the problem finding references is that many people misspell it (myself included), also I presume the * is treated as a wild-card in most search engines.Tartanperil (talk) 04:38, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- You could well, be right, my bearded friend, you could well be right. Grutness...wha? 10:26, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
