CMAS equivalents
[edit]It would help if someone could add CMAS equivalents for the certifications listed. Peter (Southwood) (talk): 14:28, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Title
[edit]The organisation's name is Fédération Française d'Études et de Sports Sous-Marins and that is what is used in most sources.
- The phrase "Fédération Française d'Études et de Sports Sous-Marins" returns 187,000 Google hits when excluding Wikipedia.
- The phrase "French federation of underwater studies and sports" returns 517 Google hits when excluding Wikipedia.
There is very little doubt about what the common name is. While the policy also shows a preference for using English, it admits that the choice should follow English-language usage. Any scuba diver will be familiar with FFESSM, but the English translation is never heard. As an aside, Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies) requires the use of the full legal name of a company in the opening sentence (so that has to be Fédération Française d'Études et de Sports Sous-Marins) and gives examples including Nestlé and Deutsche Post. --RexxS (talk) 23:23, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
