Philippine Extrajudicial Killings and Desaparecidos
[edit]I created this landmark and historical article today, Jose Rizal day, our national hero, Philippines. I hope that users will further expand this regarding UPDATES since the recent events are CURRENT. I hope also that researchers and international jurists will benefit from my work.

Objection to Merger, suggested by Deleted User
[edit]I fully object, disagree to the merger, and hereby submit my reasons: a) I myself created the landmark article on Philippine Extrajudicial Killings and Desaparecidos, which article is vastly, enormously and substantially different from the Human rights in the Philippines article. I am a lawyer and judge. My forte is law, and I created this article with so many links and citations or references, tracing the rich history of the article and events. b) With all due respect to the creator of the other article - User:Bkwillwm said in his page that: "My Wikipedia interests generally have to do with history and politics. I am especially interested in covering areas that seem to be neglected by Wikipedia, such as Native Americans. I am also interested in improving Spain and Morocco related articles. I have translated several Spanish articles for the English Wikipedia. I am also working on improving Wikipedia's coverage of my homestate, Virginia, and its history."; So, based on his credentials, I am more qualified to have authored this Philippine article since I am here in the Philippines, had studied its laws, while the author had no special stint in Philippine jurisprudence. And c) Filipino law students, jurists, professors, and even legislators had used and would in the future use my article for research, especially, now, when killings here multiply. Foreign legal scholars too will use my article on killings.
I suggest therefore, that that article be the one merged here, in my article, as section or sub-section, since my article is broader and more comprehensive or the MOTHER or PARENT of that article. Cheers. Another point, I noticed that User:Descendall was deleted, so, the tag there for merger, is now vandalism, it obviously was intended to vandalize my article. Please consider then, alternatively, that this article be merged into my article. -- --Florentino floro (talk) 08:48, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Agreed with Florentino, i have removed merge tags for now, but if someone wishes to re-open the merge proposal, please feel free.

Desaparecidos, 194 victims
[edit]There seems to be only this figure on forced disappearances, and it's by Desaparecidos, and also the 900+ total now, etc.: until 2007, and more than 900 as of May, 2008, and most of them were members of left wing groups. Karapatan further officially placed the number of victims of human rights violations: forced evacuations or displacement at 7,442, by indiscriminate firing with 5,459 victims, and food and economic blockade with 3,042.JAN-MAR 2008, 96 cases of right violations recorded -- Karapatan The rights group Desparecidos officially reported as of May 15, 2008, 194 victims of enforced disappearances under the Arroyo administration, with the latest abduction of National Democratic Front political consultant for Cagayan Valley, activist Randy Felix Malayao, 39, a volunteer worker.gmanews.tv, Activist is 194th victim of 'enforced disappearances' - group--Florentino floro (talk) 09:49, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Merging Extra-judicial_killing#Extrajudicial_Killings_Summit into Remedies section
[edit]Extra-judicial_killing#Extrajudicial_Killings_Summit contains more details on this summit than this article, that it references as a main article. While the details are out of date (the summit is described as being in the future and has style issues), it may contain useful information worthwhile adding here before it is removed from its current location. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogerb67 (talk • contribs) 23:06, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
It is certainly out of date and should be removed from where it is. Reargun (talk) 14:16, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Suggested article name change
[edit]Because the Philippines does not allow legal/judicial executions, isn't the term "extrajudicial killings" too broad for the particular topic covered by this article. Rightly applied, EJKs refers to all types of murders committed in the Philippines, and not just does enumerated here. I would like to suggest a name change, such as "political killings" or some "state-related killings" to more accurately reflect the nature of these crimes. It would also broaden the scope to include other incidents of similar nature, such as the killing of media people, and the massacres in Escalante, Mendiola, Kidapawan, Bukidnon, etc, all of which were attended by some form of governmental involvement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Randall tor (talk • contribs) 00:36, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Lead para re EJKs/ ELKs and EDs
[edit]This edit caught my eye. I have no problem with that edit, but the edited paragraph strikes me as pushing a particular POV. That para was inserted into the lead section without support in this 2013 edit, and it is not clear to me what portions of the article body it might be intended to summarize. The final sentence of the paragraph strikes me as particularly strident. That sentence says, "... cases have been well documented"; perhaps cites of sources documenting those cases and of sources supporting the assertion there saying "legal mechanisms for accountability of non-state actors have been weak if not wholly non-existent" would help.
