Story tag

[edit]

The style problems in this article aren't particularly bad, but the tone is not quite formal enough to be encyclopedic. The second section in particular is very informal and has a more "story" like style. --D•g Talk to me/What I've done 02:20, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi can you tell me which section or sentance is informal or not encyclopeic, so i can fix it--Misconceptions2 (talk) 10:16, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

i beleive i have made it more formal (so removed the tag), i made the following changes:

Got scared-->was terrified

The arabs going with them --> Arabs that accompanied them

Ran away-->fled

They took them all prisoners --> they took the entire tribe as prisoners

With there families herds and flock--> with there familes herd an flock

200 camels and 5000 sheep and goats, as well as 200 camels, 5000 sheep, goats, --> 200 camels, 5000 sheep, goats,

as well as a huge quantity of household goods which were captured as booty--> as well as a huge quantity of household goods which were captured as booty

bidder-->bidders

The title

[edit]

I don't think that the word 'invasion' is a good translation for the Arabic word 'Ghazwah', which is more like a raid or an attack. It was only an oasis and not a whole country that was attacked, and after the raid prisoners and booty were carried home. I have tried to tidy this up a little, but it still needs more work. There is some disagreement (among classical Arab historians) about the year of the raid, and this should be mentioned. I have omitted constant mention of the Sunni collection of Hadith Sahih al-Bukhari and so on, since most Muslims would know them to be Sunni collections, and non-Muslims can just click the links to find out more.Ducky59 (talk) 20:23, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
