I suggest it's inappropriate to categorise Siewert as an opera singer. MOS:LEAD: "The lead serves as an introduction to the article and a summary of its most important contents." Her brief stint as an opera singer doesn't warrant being mentioned in the lead sentence, nor is it defining enough to include her in that category. Both should be removed.
I removed Category:LGBT literature in exchange for Category:LGBT writers as you suggested. However, I do not agree on removing the Category:Opera singers. She did perform for a year on a legit stage therefore she had a short career as an opera singer, even though she had to quit it after that. I would agree that it's probably not important enough to mention in the lead, on the other hand it was an important part of her early life and she fully trained for a career in the field.
