[edit]A story I have heard about Patriarch Evtimii says, that he was sentenced to death by the Ottoman invaders. But when the henchman lifted the ax to cut the head of Patriarch Evtimii, his hands stoned. The death penalty was transfered into exile. Does anyone know, if this is true, and what source the information comes from.
Thanks, Nick
- I think that comes from a work of Gregory Tsamblak and, of course, cannot be true : ) --Gligan (talk) 08:52, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
The miracle with Evtimii's death sentence
[edit]This story is described by Tsamblak and other writers from that time. I have personally read Tsamblak's description of the fall of Tarnovo. I don`t think that it is sound to automatically assume that this did not happen. The document points out a fact: the hand of the executor was paralyzed. The fact was interpreted as a miracle of God. You might dispute interpretations but facts should not be dismissed that easily. I think this should be included in the article. It follows 100% the most basic principle of history: If there is a document there is history.
I agree, please add this to the article. It is a rather important part of the events surrounding the life of Evtimiiy as well as the fall of Tarnovo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.94.229.85 (talk) 01:23, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Wow! Your definition of "fact" is rather shocking!
There's an evil clown under your bed. Go and see, i'm telling you. Here - it's in writing, ergo a DOCUMENT. It's gotta be true. Pavel Stankov (talk) 18:15, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Written works
[edit]I added a few of patriarch Evtimii's written works that survived (in original or as later transcripts) I will attempt to collect some more and if possible to add their texts as related articles. We need to add more info on the works of Evtimii and the Tarnovo literary school.... I think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bajanak (talk • contribs) 19:23, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
