Inaccuracies

[edit]

I'd suggest to put that it "has declined" in the wild, rather than "is now uncommon". This is still a common species in various places across its range.

It is not accurate to say this species is "no longer harvested commercially due to past over harvesting". The juçara is still widely commercially harvested, even in protected areas where harvest is illegal. There is a recent push to harvest the fruits instead of the palm-heart, which is claimed to be more sustainable.

I'd suggest to remove the sentence "This endangering of the species could cause it to fall extinct" as the extinction of this relatively common and widespread species is highly unlikely in the foreseeable future.

If others agree, I can make these changes and add some more information about the species. It is a well-known and relatively well-studied species. Benphalan (talk) 19:02, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
